A Dominican athlete is better equipped to compete in the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships carded for Medellin, Colombia, next week thanks to the Marigot Development Corporation (MDC).

MDC has secured $2,000 in kit and gear to assist Chelsey Linton in  achieving her goal of a total of 5,000 heptathlon points when she represents Dominica in the under-19 games.

Chelsey, from Marigot, is a member of the WesMar Rangers Athletics Club and the 2010 gold medalist of the Central America and the Caribbean A&B Junior Championship. She already boasts of a personal best of 4,504 points for the seven event heptathlon at the junior event.

Many benefactors from the Marigot community made donations including Rogerson Riviere,  Country Style Bread, Cisne Pascal, Dr. Irving Pascal, Peter Alfred and Curvin St. Hillaire.

Linton departed Dominica on August 21 with her coach Godwin Dorsette. The duo will be joined by Thea Lafond in Colombia to form the Dominica contingent.

“The MDC wishes Chelsey and Thea all the best at the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championship in Colombia,” Chairman of the MDC, Michael Pascal, said.

Apres Bondie c’est la ter. We the children of the soil must put our hearts and hands together and help each other. Help the youth do positive things.help the elderly. Help the poor.dont hand out checks and houses to strong bodied men and women but empower them to scratch out a living by being productive.
As the saying goes “give a man a fish and he’ll have dinner teach a man how to fish and he’ll be the better for it”. I applaud the change that i seee but we need to do nore to save dominica.taxes are too high, cost of living is too high the standard of living is way low. We need to get rid of the ideology that politics is a popularity contest..that when elected you can do as you please. You cant get into power with 22.00 saved and end up with 22million. Who checking??? Y is there 150% duty at the ports. Why is it that we must fly and hotel in 2 or more countries before we can get home.

why do prime ministers serve more than 2 terms?

Why is it that our educated youth pay 10s of thousands for an education but return to work in public service or call centers? Why?

Why our leaders allow crime and drugs to eat up the community and not pass and enforce laws to cripple it?

Why we have 365 rivers and water bill so high?

Why cant we as a people forget partisan politics and bring this nation up to be a model of growth and development?

That Tshirt look more Jamaican. Hope these donations take her far ahead….but is it really necessary to have so many trainers? I am hoping that her different athletic events require different footwear cos when the donators see that dem will be thinking I doh even have so many pair of shoe what i give her for

It is the top of the Dominica kit from a few competitions ago….And she is a heptathlete and that means she participates in the Heptathlon which is seven events- 200m, 800m, long jump, high jump, Javelin, shot put and 100m hurdes.

That is the reason for all the different shoes and the main reason she requires assistance to participate…She and her mum can not do it on their own and the DOC and Government doh seem to care about supporting young athletes. Don’t hate…appreciate and encourage our young people who stay on the positive track in spite of many obstacles…

I hope you are educated now….google is your friend.

Good Luck to the athletes and coach. Thanks to MDC for sponsoring Chelsey. I know how difficult it is to find sponsorship for athletes and how our athletes feel when they are at these competitions without the proper gear. I have seen Chelsey grow in the sport and I am very proud of her.
