The Dominica Football Association (DFA) has donated football kits to “all women football teams on the island” worth in excess of EC$63,000.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the kits, president of the DFA, Glen Etienne, said the donation is a clear demonstration of his administration’s continued interest in the development of women’s football on the island.

Each team received 20 complete kits and the DFA boss stated that “all what was needed now is for the players to present themselves to play and enjoy football.”

“Players, let me urge you to take full advantage of these kits…make the best use of them, appreciate them and always wear them with pride,” he said. “Let these kits spur you to greater things by raising your standard of play.”

He revealed that the association has “big plans for women’s football” and the women’s team will soon be back in training for Olympic qualifications.

Meantime DFA treasurer, Phillip White, disclosed that the association has spent $53,000 to run the women’s league and the latest donation brings to a total of EC$104,000 spent so far on women’s football in Dominica.

It would be remiss of me if I did not comment on this so called donation. The kits that were presented has nothing to do with the DFA as the prime initiator. This is gesture by World Governing Body (FIFA) that has been passed on to all member associations that are affiliated to FIFA. Mr. President, please tell the people the truth and don t behave like it came from the coffers of DFA! I am listening.

Congratulations to the Dominica Football Association for supporting women football in Dominica. Let us make a big push together with the Sports Division to ramp up participation at the school level. There are lots of opportunity for our women in Football.

    One Love Dominicans!!!
