The Dominica Football Association (DFA), in conjunction with the Refereeing Department and the Dominica Football Referees Association, held a one-day beginners referees course in Castle Bruce on February 8th, 2015.

Eleven participants attended the course, which was conducted by retired FIFA Referees, Carlisle Jno Baptiste and Daniel Leslie.

Speaking at the ceremony, which was attended by DFA officials, president Glen Etienne urged the participants to make good use of the knowledge learnt since it will be benefit them in the future.

“You have been given an opportunity to learn more about the laws of the game…grasp it with both hands for you never know what the future holds for you,” he said.

General Secretary of the DFA, Alganan Degallerie, also shared some words of advice with the participants calling on them to “be responsible and decide on a career in refereeing.”

“There is a lot in store and at stake for you if you decide to make refereeing a career…go for it, put your all into it and you will be justly rewarded,” he stated.

At the end of the day-long session the participants all expressed “thanks and gratitude” to the DFA for the course and hope for a continuation.
