The Dominica Chess Federation held its first ever Queens Gala – a female only Chess Tournament – on Saturday Nov 18th at the UWI Open Campus.

10 females participated in 6 rounds of exciting chess games, which ended in 3 players tied at 5 wins out of 6. The games then went into overtime with tie breaking rounds which concluded with the following winners:

1st place – Zahidu Henry – 5/6 points (tie breaking playoffs: 4/4)

2nd place – Ayani Casimir – 5/6 points (tie breaking playoffs: 2/4)

3rd place – Liudmila Domennova – 5/6 points (tie breaking playoffs: 0/4))

Congratulations to all the ladies who participated, to the parents and teachers of the young ones, and to the chess community who supported the event. A big thank you to the UWI Open Campus for affording us the venue, and to HHV Whitchurch & Co. Ltd. for sponsoring drinks and snacks for the tournament.

    CHESS too?Dominica going places in sports under the leadership of the Rt Hon.Dr.Roosevelt Skerrit Prime Minister of Dominica,and Chairman of CARICOM.Who vex lost.
