Dominica goes down to St. Lucia in 1st of friendly football games

DA vs St. Lucia footballDominica went down 1-nil to St Lucia, in the first friendly football match at the Windsor Park Stadium on Saturday night in front of a huge crowd.

Eden Charles scored a beautiful free kick in the 70th minute of play to give St Lucia victory going into Sunday’s match.

Both teams lacked coordination and composure in front of the goal and will be looking to do much better in game two.

Dominica has been struggling in front their home crowd and will have to play much better in game two, to have any chance of leveling the friendly match series.

Game two is scheduled to begin at 6 pm on Sunday and organizers are asking Dominicans to come out in large numbers to support the national team.

Man does always pull up on de side and run their mouth when they cannot do any better than the players on the field. Why don’t we learn to support our local boy? Atleast they have the love enough for their country to go and represent us for free. these guys are not getting paid to play but yet they are criticized by man that cannot do any better

Dominica has been going down to St. Lucia and all Caribbean islands for 10 years now. We go down to them in football, cricket, financial growth, employment, place to do business, tourism, stay over visitors, agricultural export, human growth / migration. The only category we lead St. Lucia and other regional leaders in is corruption. There we lead and others follow

As a fan of football & a Dominican who watched the game at the stadium, I would like to share a few thoughts on this game.

    – Overall, let me just state that the game in its entirety left much to be desired.

    – Though I realize it is a friendly and these opportunities should be used to try different players and styles, the dominican team seemed to lack movement overall as well as spacing which is imperative regardless of the formation or players for a senior national team.

    – Composure and Decision making is another point that I believe needed to be addressed as there were numerous times at which the coaching staff should revisit. Players seemed to eager to attack into spaces too often without any support & when support provided itself most times a more audacious pass was chosen.

    – The St.Lucia team were lucky on a over hit cross in my opinion, however, the goal keeper I believe was slightly to close to his near post from the get go.

    – Dominica created the two best opportunities to score in the game; the free-kick to the top of the box in the first half & the left foot shot mis-kick in the second half by the left winger #13.

A posted team sheet for these friendlies would be a good idea.

Dominican players of note: Curlson, Skele, Dowad, The two center backs & the right half. Great performances.

I do commend the team and wish them the best for today;s friendly.

At that level, conditioning makes all the difference. Yes our fellas are talented but they’re just not fit enough.

No no no I disagree with the both team lack coordination. When u got a forward man just there watching others hustle for ball n just waiting to get it. When u have a forward man dribbling as he loose it is give up put his hand on his waste n go back to his position to.wait for another n some Dominicans claiming he the best making him believe he the best shit Mr not no damn the best buy pure crap hell b10 Stupes Mr is crap shit pure shit n DFA need to.change that team around cause dem to bias town man alone so much footballers that on the island from south and the east. Just have a bunch a high leaf on d national side we can never win

    So, I take it that the score was 1 – 0, or it could have been 2 – 1 or 3- 2 or 3 – 4 or 5 – 4…right?

Dominica has a new team and young too. I find they still put up a good fight. I thought the forward-midfield area seemed a bit soft.

I disagee, the team has very good potential and is quite e good. They need practice and cricket is casting shadow on football in Domininca. If you would focus on football and give it more attention you would produce more good players. Think Thierre Henry from Guadeloupe. He would have gone nowhere if the Guadeloupans would have been playing cricket all the time :-)
