ARNOS VALE, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Dominica registered its second victory in as many days at the Windward Islands U-15 Cricket Tournament when they defeated defending champions Grenada by seven wickets at the Anos Vale 2 Ground on Thursday.

Winning the toss, Dominica had no hesitation in sending Grenada to take first knock on a strip, which from the opening action, showed it was tailor made for batting.

However, disciplined bowling and fielding took the bite out of the Grenadians spice, as they were hustled out for 102 in 17 overs.

Donald McDonald top-scored with 32 before he was bowled by Terrel Toussaint (71 for four), the classy Emmanuel Stewart trapped leg-before wicket by Deon Destouche for 23 (54 for three), and Ricardo Hall was bowled by Kerwin Dupigny for 11 (101 for nine); the top-scorers.

Wickets fell regularly at 05, 11, 54, 71, 75, 77, 79, 94, 101, and 102 with Terrel Toussaint being the chief destroyer with three for 14, Kerwin Dupigny two for 07, Deon Destouche one for 16, Lee Louisy one for 17, and Danel Dupigny one for 19.

By the lunch interval, Dominica had reached 58 for the loss of three wickets; Terrel Toussaint bowled by Calvin Blache for 16 (1 for 36), Gamaliel Ophair caught and bowled by Calvin Blache 16 (2 for 47), and Devante Williams leg-before to Johann Jeremiah without scoring (3 for 48) were the wickets to fall.

No more wickets were lost as Dominica, led by the captain Leic Charles, who was 16 not out at lunch, remained unbeaten at the end on 38.  Aulick Athanaze was also unbeaten at the end on 8 as the lads from the Nature Isle romped home to a seven-wicket victory; 103 for three in 30.2 overs the final score.

Calvin Blache finished with two for 29, and Johann Jeremiah one for 23, with 26 extras made up of 5 byes and 21 wides.

With Friday a rest day in which the teams are expected to have net sessions to iron out a few kinks, the action returns on the weekend with the third and fourth round of matches.
