Dominica table tennis team topple Logos Hope staff in friendly matches

By Dominica Table Tennis Association

The Dominica Table Tennis Association on Wednesday provided the staff of the Logos Hope with an opportunity for recreation and competition with some of the aspiring names of table tennis on the island.

Dane Taylor, Eccles Jerome, Gem Eloi and Larrysa Dover along with Cornelius Timothy, Damian Green and Kyle Brisbane represented  the Table Tennis Association.  The Logos Hope team comprised of Gian Walser, Victor Uehara, Tong nan Moon and Reuben Nussabumer and ladies Mel Mayer, Hersey Heng and Aradhana Thavare

In the team events for both men women, the Dominica teams were successful but there were glimpses of great skill by a few of the players from the Logos Hope namely Reuben Nussabaumer, Ton Non Moon and Hersey Heng.

Hersy Heng lost in her two matches 11: 7, 13: 11 to Larrysa Dover and 12: 10 and 13: 11 to Jem Eloi, showing a great level of ability in the game.  While Reuben Nussabaumer lost in the team event  11: 7; 11:13, 4 : 11.

In the Ladies Singles final Larrysa Dover won Gem Eloi 12:10 and 11: 9 while in the men’s singles event Dane Taylor won over Cornelius Timothy 11: 8; 11 :9.

The Dominica Table Tennis Association expects to use this activity to revive its development program through re-registration of members, and training of players at the Bath Estate Community Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, undertaking out-reach programmes to communities and schools with tables and working in collaboration with the Sports Division and other stake holders to generate new interest in Table Tennis.
