The Dominica senior national cricket team will leave the island today to represent the country in the Windward Islands Cricket Tournament in Grenada.

Dominica has not won the senior tournament for over ten years and Captain Liam Sebastien is confident that the team will bring the trophy home this time.

Kershaski Jno-lewis is the only new comer to the team which includes experienced players, Tyrone Theophille, Ray Casmir, Vivian Titre, Mervin Matthew, Kevin James and Liam Sebastien.

Kavem Hodge is expected to join the team later, from Barbados, where he is now studying at the University of the West Indies.

Notable absentees from the team are Shane Shillingford, who is representing the West Indies Cricket team, and Vincent Lewis.

The tournament begins on Thursday and will be played over the next two weeks.

It will entail a 20-20 competition and a two day competition.

We have a West Indies / Windward administration with absolutely no vision for the game of cricket. No wonder in our last three tests by the time this one against New Zeland is over we will be 0-3 being beaten by an inning again and in 3 days. How does one expect to play good cricket when our windward tournament which was at one time a four day event be reduced to two days? No wonder our test players can only win in T20. WE need Clive Lloyd

I hope Kavem Hodge gets a fair chance.

He is the most talented Dominica player, currently at HPC and singled out by senior selectors. Just like Mervyn was.

Its time for people to stop interrupting the careers of young men who can go all the way/

Always the same set of players….whether they attend training/trials or not the same people are picked…a matter of fact the team seems to be picked before trials… the rest of the people are just called upon as bowick to come and bat and bowl to these ‘picked’ players….there are so many talented and ambitious cricketers in Dominica, give them man a chance…Anyways all the best guys!!
