The United States of America Cricket Association (USACA) has named Dominican Doris Francis as captain of the United States women cricket team for the ICC Women’s World Cup Global Qualifier.
The qualifier is to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from November 12 to 27, 2011.
“It is going to be a challenge but I am going to do my best,” Francis told Dominica News Online. “I want to make it to the World Cup.”
Francis has been an impressive player and has won Best Bowler Award and Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the 2011 USACA Women’s Tournament.
She was 25 when she took up cricket. A medium pace bowler with a best of 5 for 27, she first played representative cricket for Dominica, before going on to play for West Indies against Lancashire in 2000; Sri Lanka in 2003, and she went on tour to India and Pakistan in 2004. She also traveled to Holland in 2003, as she helped her team to qualify for the 2005 World Cup in South Africa.
The team is expected to leave the US for Bangladesh on November 5.

Wow..this is very impressive..all the very Best Doris…Keep up the excellent work!!!!
WE ALL KNOW THAT THE KALINAGO PEOPLE HAVE TONS OF TALENT IN ALL THEY DO .THE SKERRIT LABOR GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS ARE ALWAYS TO KEEP THEM DOWN.WE ALL REMEMBERED MR. CLAUDIUS SANFORD,WE ALL KNOW ABOUT THE POVERTY ACCESSMENT REFORT WHICH CLAIMED THAT THE KALINAGOS ARE THE POOREST PEOPLE IN DOMINICA. WE ALL REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY THAT WAS GIVEN BY CHAVEZ FOR THE KALINAGO PEOPLE.THIS IS THE SAME DORIS WHO COULD NOT GET A JOB IN DOMINICA AFTER SHE RAISED THE DOMINICAN FLAG IN MANY CRICKETING COUNTRIES. WE CANNOT FORGET SANFORD WHO ALSO HAD TO TRAVEL TO ANTIGUA INORDER TO FIND A JOB AND WHEN HE WAS PICKED TO REPRESENT THE WEST INDIES IN CRIKET, ONLY THEN DID THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF DOMINICA RECOGNIZED HIS CRICKETING TALENT.
Go Doris,u makin us in kalinago country proud

Waw, Dominicans out there doing great things in the eyes of the world.
Yes they are doing great and making meaningful contribution to other pepole’s countries. Good thing is they are being appreciated and applauded while in Dominica diasporans are viewed with envy and disdain simply because they speak their mind. Go Doris Go.
