Dominican makes it big in American football

Casimir

Another son of the soil is making Dominicans proud.

Quincy Casimir from Salisbury, son of Nurse Jennifer Jones Casimir and Paul Casimir, has been accepted to Fairmont State University in West Virginia on a football scholarship.

Quincy, a former student of the Salisbury Government School, Miami Norland Middle School and Miami Norland Senior High School in Florida, is an avid footballer.

As captain of the defensive arm of his team, Quincy proved himself worthy by capturing the title of Best Defensive Player of the league.  He led his team to the state finals in Tampa where they narrowly missed out on the title in a heartbreaker.

Quincy has accepted a US$90,000 four-year academic and athletic scholarship to Fairmont State.

He has also excelled in academics and was awarded the prize for Scholar Athlete of the Year, First Team All Dade and Special Team Most Valuable Player (MVP).

A humble yet fearless player, Quincy throws himself into this game.  Highlights of his plays can be seen on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oi087lrbdwk .

Quincy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miami Norland Senior class of 2011 and will leave for Fairmont State on August 3rd, 2011.

We wish him well in all his endeavours.

WEll I must agree that people from Salisbury are talented, in that this young man is the second to make great strides in football, Grayson Shillingford’s son, Grayson Junior played professional football for the Seattle Seahawks and other professional teams in the 90’s. These young man and women are making such tremendous strides that one can’t help but be proud, Dominica has for years produced greatness and will continue to, we have not only locally but international Judges, Doctors, Athletes, Lawyers, Actors, and the list goes on. Proud of you my young man you were born of greatness and great you will be stay strong and humble. God bless
