A contingent of eight volleyball players will leave Dominica tomorrow (Thursday) to represent the country in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) World Beach Volleyball Championship qualifier to be staged in Antigua from November 18-21.
The players are: Team 1 (Male) David Toussaint and Ronald Bruno
Team 2 (Male) Ray Robinson and Lincoln Riviere
Team 1 (Female) Catherine Francis and Lenel Williams
Team 2 (Female) Marcia Gustave and Lauren Lockhart
Dominican volleyball referee Marcus Blondel is already in Antigua participating in a beach volleyball referees’ workshop in preparation for the major beach volleyball event.
The FIVB and the Continental Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) are meeting the air travel and accommodation and meals costs.
The firm of J. Astaphan (1970) Ltd. provided the female players with uniforms, while former St. Luke’s School Gloria Activille, J & V Supplies and Mr. Simeon Joseph contributed the male players uniforms; Krazy T’s supported by printing the uniforms.
The DAVA places on record its appreciation for the support of the public and private sector employers who allowed players time off from work to facilitate their participation in the international competition.
