After six years, a new executive committee is finally in place to lead the Dominica Table Tennis Association (DTTA).

Following a general meeting at the Bath Estate Community Centre on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014, Marie-Antoinette Mora was elected as DTTA President and will serve alongside Ezra Winston – Vice President, Clifford Gibbons – Secretary, Brendan Defoe – Treasurer, Christie Bougouneau – Public Relations Officer, Olive Williams – Assistant Secretary/Treasurer and Jennifer Shillingford – Member.

In her closing remarks, Mora thanked the interim committee, of which she was Interim President, for coming forward to steer the Association towards elections.

“Had we not come forwad, we would not have an Executive Committee today so I would like to thank all those who were willing to serve on the interim committee, Clifford Gibbons, Larissa Dover, Tony Dyer and especially Hayford Lafond who worked tirelessly to put the steering committee together and who devotes his time and energy daily to the youngsters to ensure that table tennis remained alive over the last six years. Our first order of business would be to finalize a team to represent Dominica at the Commonwealth Games in July. I look forward to working with all the elected members of the executive as we seek to grow table tennis and restore it to its former glory,” she said.

Mora has served as President and Vice President of the DTTA and player and manager of the Dominica National Team.

She also thanked Abraham Brown and Clifton Lewis and all those who have served the DTTA or represented Dominica in the past, and invited them to return to the sport to give back to the youngsters who are ever so keen to improve on their game with the hope that one day they, too, will represent Dominica.

this is such a joke….anyone following will see whats happening……the DTTA under Mr Matthew spearheaded the challenge of the DOC and showed them up for exactly what they are…just as an example…handball was just launched in dominica with its president Felix Wilson, yet the handball association voted and has been voting in total contravention to the constitution.. which is the association must must hold AGMs and must hold national competitions before they are eligible just to name a few…none of which the handball association has done…but what do they do….suspend and prevent other associations from voting (the ones that disagree with them)….and in this case suspend DTTA and go form another DTTA with people that support them…..99 days for di crook 1 for di police…..

Ms. Mora is a beautiful lady inside and out and I’m sure that she will do all in her power to give the team the best opportunities.
