International table tennis expert conducts workshop

International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) expert Mr. Arif Khan will be conducting a two week table Tennis Technical Course on behalf of the Dominica Table Tennis Association here in Roseau from December 5 – December 16. The formal opening which takes place at the St. Gerard’s Hall from 9.30am on December 5, is expected to be addressed by Mr. John Charles, President of the Dominica Olympic Committee and Mr. Trevor Shillingford, Sports Coordinator

The course which is jointly sponsored by Olympic Solidarity and the Dominica Olympic Committee will be held in collaboration with the Sports Division as a means of providing mainly the Youth Sports Officers and Sports Officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to assist with the further development of table tennis in the primary and secondary schools and in the communities around Dominica.

The sessions to be held from December 5 – 10 will be for some twenty coaches, while a specific programme from December 12  to 16 will be conducted for some twenty national and intermediate players to better prepare them for competition at the local and regional level.

The Association is of the belief that the timing of this Technical Course will help to revitalize the general membership of Dominica Table Tennis Association as it undertakes to fulfill its turn to host the 18th OECS Table Tennis Championships here in Dominica in June of 2012.
