It’s Triple Triple Gold for Bolt in Rio

UsainTripleFor the third straight time, Usain Bolt has captured Olympic gold in the 4 x 100 metre relay, taking his tally in Rio to three and matching his performances in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

In three Olympic Games, Bolt has won three gold medals each, in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100 metres events – a total of nine medals in three Games.

Our athletes are just as good as those who competed. All we need is training facilities. We need to motivate the young athletes, give them something to look forward to. Its not too late to start investing some funds into our capable athletes…there are many of them just waiting for that push. Imagine St. Lucia did it. Why can’t we/

Football is part of the Olympics we have an active football association, we take part in international competition, yet we not able to qualify for the olympics in football. The olympics is not only about track. Most of the athletes from the Caribbean who participated in the olympics including Jamaicans are trained in the USA. Not only that but the vast majority of the international athletes train in the USA.

Something needs to be done about our sports. 2016 was a calamity for Dominica at the Olympics. The only compliment was the outfit(lol). Lafond – disappointed; Cuban/Dominican – disappointed; Dominican/Dutch – Disappointed; Officials-Great (lol). Sports stake holders, do something so somebody can be well prepared to represent at least in one discipline like we saw from St. Lucia when 2020 comes

People are tired of what? Would a UWP government have had a bigger facility for our athletes and more competitors in Brazil this year?

What did the UWP had from 1995 to 2000 for this government to improve on except you maybe mean seeing our Ministers an others sitting in the stands when we had no athletes competing.

Is that what we should improve on. I could agree with you there our Prime Minister is working extra hard he could definitely take a few days and go and watch the olympic.

Wow! Usain Bolt did it! Happy for you! He is a very strong man; no doubt well-nourished. This is also the result of determination and hard work. He must be exhausted. After the Olympics, hope you get a well-deserved rest Usain.

If we look closely, we will notice that most of the Olympics winners in athletics are black. From great britain, usa, africa, jamaica. there was even amixed japanese in the relay race.

Because black people it seems can run faster and most take part in these races. However there are many more sports that blacks do not compete in. But we are getting there. Our young ladies are now competing and doing very well in Gymnastics, swimming, figure skating and tennis.

this is true. yet most of the black countries do not have the training facilities nor investment into the Olympics. this is primarily because the Olympic committee makes and takes all the profits for the event and neither the athletes their coaches nor the supporting country get a return on their investment.
I think when that changes a lot more countries will start investing in athletic training facilities.

Nonsense. You talking about track and field event that were selectively covered. All the olympians are athleted-badminton, table tennis, mountain biking, golf, synchronize swimming, water polo etc.
      Keep your ignorance concealed

  8. August 20, 2016

THE BOLT. said lately that this might be his last Olympics .i know that all of the world fans support you to the fullest you are an Icon to Sports.

It’s time for Dominica to start moving in that direction. With a sports person as Minister and to get some trainers from overseas and put together a positive athletes group. DA too backward. The Government have the country struggling too much. People tired.

Free; that is the problem with us Dominicans. If you will notice most athletes start training on their on from a child. See the tennis duo William sisters for example.

Dominica has the best body of water; how many of us take swimming professionally? Most of the swimmers swim in man made pools but from coast to coast we are surrounded by water, why don’t we have professional swimmers?

It is time we look at ourselves and see what can we do. DA is not backwards we ourselves are the ones making DA backwards; we must take ownership for what we do to our country and stop bringing her down like instead of taking pictures of the beautiful sites in Dominica take a rundown shack and bring it overseas and say that is what Dominica looks like. You think first world countries have no rundown buildings?

Jamaica with no snow took part in a winter sport. Every time after an event we do the same thing, what prevented any of us from representing your country?
