Kings of the Street final rounds set for Saturday and Sunday

After conducting qualifying rounds all over the country, the Kings of the Street FINAL ROUNDS are set to happen this Saturday July 27th and Sunday July 28th at the Goodwill Playing Court in Lindo Park.  Twelve teams have qualified to the Final Rounds representing their different zones and communities.  They will vie for the right to be crowned Champion and for the top prize of $3,000.00 for this year’s edition of the tournament.

Leading the pack of qualifiers is the Stockfarm FC that got automatic qualification for being last year’s champion.  The team is projected to defend their crown this year with the same ferocity and same great street football skills that they exhibited last year en route to their first championship.

Expected to give the defending champion some stiff competition are four electrifying teams that emerged from their respective zones as top qualifiers. One of them is the Young Boyz team that dominated the Grand Fond qualifying round with 5 goals which is the most scored by any team this year so far.  Another team that is anticipated to give the defending champion some problems is the Jimmit Ballerz that torched the competition in Mahaut with their 4 goals. Coming out of the Goodwill qualifiers as the top team, the Never Ready Boyz is also seen to come out strong while enjoying some home court advantage.  Another first-placer to watch out for is the Kingshill team that ruled the highly competitive Pointe Michel qualifying round.

Behind this set of first-place winners are the second-place winners.  One of them is the FC509 team that scored 5 goals in their qualifying round while also proudly representing the country of Haiti. The YW3 Young Stars streaked through to the Final Rounds via that stacked and very tough Pointe Michel qualifying round.  Completing this set of contenders is the YTS Ballers that placed second in another strong zone, the Mahaut qualifying round.

Completing the cast of Final Rounds competitors are the Ghost Town Ballers out of the Mahaut qualifier; Switch Gang out of the Pointe Michel qualifier; and the Kommess Pack out of the Castle Bruce qualifier.

This year’s Wild Card entry is the Grapefruit team from the Goodwill qualifying round.

The organizers of the tournament foresee this 2-day Final Rounds to be action-packed and exciting.  All football-loving fans and the general public are invited to attend and watch all the games.  A special performance will also be held by DJ Repeat to provide added entertainment. Signal Band will also make a special appearance.  Drinks and other refreshments will be available at the bar to be set up by Adiktive Sports, the organizer of the tournmanent.

Funds to be raised from this tournament shall be used to help build an envisioned mobile Sports Academy dedicated to all vulnerable children and young people in Dominica.
