Martinique is the new champion of the just-concluded Windward Island Women Football Tournament which was held at the Windsor Park Stadium.
Martinique was invited to participate in the tournament after St Lucia and Grenada pulled out for financial reasons.
They defeated Dominica 5-0 on Sunday.
Martinique and St Vincent & the Grenadines ended the tournament with four points, while Martinique captured the title on a better goal difference.
At the closing ceremony, Martinique walked away with three individual awards to include best defender, best midfielder and best striker.
St Vincent & the Grenadines got best goalkeeper and MVP of the tournament.
Dominica lost both matches played in the tournament.
Meantime Dominica bowed out of the CFU U-20 boys qualifiers when they lost their third straight match on Sunday 4-2 against St Kitts and Nevis.
Let’s hope we can take advantage by engaging in numerous friendly matches with our nearest neighbour. That is both the men and women teams
Congratulation to Martinique!!
Tuff luck Lady ballers and coaching staff!!!
The Bias of the media and that of DFA is mind blowing….. Where ….. Carlisle on the breaking news re the ladies team. NOT a mention of the competition from Matt on Q95 about the competition and his buddies Glenn and George on their handling of the competition is mind bubbling…….
Something seems to be wrong. More exposure more poor results….. in football and all? Best we play marble hole (lol)
was there and it was obvious that the coach had a preference to certain players. was very disappointing. i think the coach should resign so many good players never even got a chance to touch the ball.
They must mind their business a little more as youth!
