National Table Tennis Festival August 18-20

The Dominica Table Tennis Association has received confirmation from Olympic Solidarity through the Dominica Olympic Committee of a Technical Course to be conducted here in Dominica by Mr. Arif Khan from December 5 – 16,  2011.

As a result of the Dominica’s participation at the 17th OEC S Table Tennis Tournament in St Vincent in June and the possibility of hosting the 18th OECS in 2012, the association believes that the course will be timely for coaches and also for players in contention for representation on the two national men’s and women’s team during that tournament.

In order to further prepare current players and to sensitize others, mainly prospective players and past players and to launch its preparation for a full resurgence of table tennis, a National Table Tennis Festival is being planned for the period Thursday August 18 – Saturday August 20 at the St. Gerard’s Hall.  The event starts from 5.00 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Thursday and  Friday and 10 am – 10 p.m. on Saturday. All nationals and residents from ages 12 – 60 and over are invited to participate.

Activities will be organized in the U 12, Under 20, Under 40, Under 60 and 60 and over categories for both men and women.  A registration fee of $10.00 will be taken and will entitle players to membership of the Dominica Table Tennis Association.  Players in the U12 category are encouraged to participate on the Saturday morning and their registration fee would be $5.00.
