Results from the Roseau Valley Basketball League

Below are the results of the Roseau Vally Basket Ball League. All games were played over the weekend in Trafalgar.

On Friday 16th, the Laudat Spartans defeated the Upper Village Hoosiers by the final score of 91-82 pts.

The game was controlled by the Spartans from the tip off. Their biggest lead was 15 pts in the 3rd quarter, but was brought down to 2 pts, with 3 min to go in the 4th quarter. The Hoosiers had absolutely no answer for two young, talented & exciting players (Jamal & Jervon Serrant – Dominicans but based in Canada) who dominated the game however they pleased. A truly captivating performance from the twin brothers. Everyone needs to see these two brothers play.

Top performers for Spartans – Jamal Serrant – 48 pts, 8 asts, 4 reb

– Jervon Serrant – 20 pts, 6 asts

– Shaun Reid – 11 pts, 7 reb

On Saturday 17th, in game 2, the Elvis Welding Services Road Stars defeated the Lily Valley Sharks by the final score of 84-71 pts.

Sharks were very unfortunate to have lost the game, after starting of the 1st quarter on a 15-0 run, and with all the crowd support behind them through the game. Sharks are now 1-3, with the only win coming as a result of getting the points by default over cochrane. They have lost every other game, despite being crowd favorites.

– Clinton Charles – 16 pts, 2 asts

– Ricky Toussaint – 13 pts, 7 reb

The women cant ball so why not turn backs on them. It is very difficult to get the women to come to practice besides they sit and gossip on each other. I am very happy that I get to watch mens basketball in the Valley. Thanks

DNO, thank you for reporting on the Roseau Valley Basketball league. We appreciate your support of our youth. What we celebrate and enjoy today is a direct consequence of the foresight and support of the hard working and dedicated former UWP parliamentarian- Mr. Norris Charles. He ensured that the young men of the Valley had sporting facilities and he did everything to help them. Who would have thought Morne Prosper would be such a powerhouse in Roseau Valley basketball? Go Morne Pros Go in hounor of our deceased brother Maynes Michael Nicholas, who pioneered basket ball in Morne Prosper (may his soul rest in peace) with Michael Lance and others. Blow your Long Horns and do us proud like in the days of old when Morne Pros dominated cricket in the Valley.
