Results of the LIME DABA 2011 League finals

Kubuli/Vita Malt Division 1 Finals

In the second game of the best of 5 series between the defending Champs, Wesley Raptors and the Goodwill Starz, the Goodwill Starz, who were down 0 – 1 in the series, informed the DABA just before tip-off time of their decision to forfeit the game, citing injuries and unavailability of keys players in addition to their suspended players. Although they would have been able to field a team of 7 seven players, they decided against playing the game and Wesley Raptors were awarded the win and now lead the best of 5 series 2 – 0. The Goodwill Starz will look to bounce back in game 3, when all their suspended players are due back into their line-up.

Domlec Premier Division Finals

In game 2 of the best of 5 series between the Gatorade Blazers and No Look, the Blazers were looking to go 2 games ahead after a hard fought game 1, which saw them victorious by 6 points. No Look had other things in mind and in game 2 on Friday night they took a commanding lead of 49 – 31 going into halftime. It was during the halftime break that there was a heavy downpour of rain, and this forced the DABA to postpone the second half of the game to Saturday night weather permitting. The game continued as planned on Saturday night, and No Look continued their dominance in the 3rd quarter, taking a commanding 64 – 41 lead going into the final quarter.

The game looked like it was all over, however, a resilient Blazers team showed why they are perennial former Champions and stunned both the onlookers and the No Look team by battling back into the game with an array of 3 pointers and full court pressure defense leading to easy fast break baskets. With about 30 seconds left to play, the Blazers cut No Look’s lead to 5, but they were unable to convert on a series of 3 point attempts in their next possession, which pretty much sealed the win for No Look, who went on to win the game by the exact score of the first game 77 points to 71.

Top scorers for No Look were Garth Joseph who scored a game high 30 points, Bernard Mills with 20 points, and Ken Leslie with 12 points, while Thomas Felix scored 21 points, Rickey Toussaint scored 13 points, and Lester Langlais and Jeff Jeremie each scored 10 points in a losing effort for the Blazers. Basketball fans can expect an exciting and tense game 3, as both teams will be trying to gain the advantage in the best of 5 series.

Game 3 of both the Division 1 and Premier Division Finals will take place at the Lindo Park Hard court on Wednesday starting at 7pm sharp.
