Sports Division hosts sports festivals

The Sports Division continues with the District Sports Festival when it will hold two festivals at two venues on Sunday, May 29th 2011 from 1:00 pm.

Communities from the South West of the island namely Pointe Michel, Soufriere, Scotts  Head, Loubiere, Citronier, Giraudel, Kingshill, Newtown and Wall House are expected to converge on the Poree Playing Field in Pointe Michel for the South West District Festival.

Villagers from Massacre right up to Bioche are expected to compete in hard court games at the     St. Joseph Hard court and then have the second and final day of competition with field games on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Dublanc Playing Field representing the West District.

The District Sports Festival is one of the ways that the Sports Division is trying to resuscitate sports at the community level. Eight festivals will be held around the island before the culmination at a grand final where the top village of each district will compete in basketball, volleyball, netball, cricket, rounders, football and track.

The East Sports Festival will take place at the Castle Bruce Playing Field on Sunday, June 5, 2011.
