Stay away from drugs – DOC president to basket ball players

dabaPresident of the Dominica Olympic Committee, Felix Wilson, has appealed to players involved in the sport of basketball to stay from drugs because, he says, it is harmful to their health.

Wilson made the plea while delivering some remarks at 2014 Awards Ceremony of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association which was held recently. He also said that it was unfortunate that Dominica Amateur basketball Association is not affiliated to the international organization.

Featured speaker, former president of the association Val Cuffy, encouraged basketballers to help develop basketball which he said is now at a low ebb.

He also called on former players and the immediate past president to help the new executive and give the new association a chance to do things instead of criticizing.

Without going into detail, Cuffy urged basketball players to vote in the December 8th election “for the basketball.”

Felix Thomas was voted the Most Valuable Player, M.V.P; Gatorade blazers received their award as premier league champions and E.H.Charles Cross Over got the division one league award. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to referees.

There are good drugs, you know! Must they steer from them too? You might wanna be specific in your future endeavors and explain what you mean, Felix Wilson.

“stay from drugs because, he says, it is harmful to their health.” is in no way persuasive, convincing or compelling. You should have gotten down to the nitty-gritty of the negative effects of drugs, when used for recreational purposes, rather than medicinal ones. Provide them with tactical confrontation on how to respond to people offering them drugs etc. Stand for something while you can, because your position allows you to reach lots of children who need a role model, and not someone who has no clue how to approach a subject so critical as drugs. These kids need a protector from predators, help them some more.

His advice to stay away from drugs is a wise one. Everyone knows that these drugs are addictive and what ingesting drugs can do and over a long period of time. Some people commit suicide when they are under the influence of drugs. Others could commit murder and other crimes.
Some of them cannot keep a family. They also suffer the loss of a job, material possessions and their savings, the latter if they have any. If they do not have money to purchase drugs, they will commit theft and other crimes which it will take to procure money and to purchase more drugs.
Those who ingest drugs could experience a retardation and stabilization of the mind. In other words, those who do are not susceptible to brain-drain. Therefore, the wise advice is to completely stay away from drugs. It is also hazardous to your health, happiness and peace of mind. Pay heed! It is not hip to do drugs. You will not be able to function properly or not at all.

President of the Dominica Olympic Committee, Felix Wilson, has appealed to players involved in the sport of basketball to stay from drugs because, he says, it is harmful to their health. Really Wilson, that is the best that you have to offer these young men as the President of the Dominica Olympic Committee, an organization that can do so much more to help the youth and sports in Dominica. You should be ashamed of yourself for being such a gross mis-representative of such organization. Stop sitting on your backside and reaping the benefits of being the President of the DOC and the clonies who continue to vote for you for a promise of traveling with a team should also be ashamed of themselves. Such a waste of time. Dominica sports in particular athletics has been at it lowest in 20 years. Poor leadership and lack of respect for the local coaches. We have one of the best coaches in the region who has developed young talent but we have pushed him away and now he is in Curacao developing young talent. You Wilson have and the other idiot from the DAAA have blackballed one of Dominica’s young talent because she spoke up about your lack of leadership and questionable operation at the London Olympics.

You guys need to step down.

    One Love Dominicans!!!

The ignorance of the featured speaker, DABA has been affiliated to the International Basketball federation for over 40 years. Unless it was kicked out recently.
