Volleyball victories for Dbiz Acers & Breakers

In the only two games of the weekend the Dbiz family, Acers and Young Vets, took to the north to visit the Portsmouth Breakers.

In game 1, defending women’s champs the Dbiz Acers made it a business as usual affair taking care of the younger ladies in straight sets. The Breakers kept it interesting but were no match for the prowess of Acers and National captain Anna Maria Xavier. Xavier topped all scorers with 15 points including 9 kills, 5 aces and 1 block. Her teammates Shari Pascal Maronie and Zahidu Henry followed with 10 and 9 points respectively. Phibisha Joseph kept the Breakers close leading her team with 10 points. She was assisted by her captain Deanna George with 4 points. Final scores 25-23 25-18 25-18.

By this time a massive crowd had gathered to witness a match between hometown Breakers and the star studded Young Vets. With so many national team players represented on both sides one could only expect a superb game of volleyball. The crowd was not disappointed. Kerwin George of the Breakers put on a show for his fans amassing 27 points with 23 kills 2 aces and 2 blocks. Luchiano Dupuis continues to open eyes by adding an impressive 11 kills and 4 blocks. Mickel Valantine also played his part by contributing 7 blocks, 4 kills and an ace service. This combined attack led the boys to victory even under the relentless flurry of attacks coming from Deon Vidal of the Young Vets. Vidal scored 16 kills, 3 aces and 4 blocks. His teammate Lincoln Riviere also had 20 points with 16 kills and 4 blocks. Windy weather contributed to thrown services and botched plays on both sides but the hometown Breakers made the best of it, needing all 5 sets much to the delight of their fans. Final scores  30-28 15-25 25-22 21-25 15-11.

There will be no games this weekend. The DAVA executive an body wishes everyone a safe and blessed Easter holidays.

    I am very disappointed with what is going on in Dominica. If the beating and killing of Etienne was on the other foot, what is happening now would not happen. I urge most Dominicans to rise up and fight for justice for this poor man. Dominica is the most lawless Caribbean island. I find our citizens to be very dumb.
