The West Indies Players’ Association wishes to extend congratulations to the West Indies Women team on their continued outstanding performances. The West Indies Women are now the joint leader team with the Australian women in the standings of the ICC Women Championship.

The new captain Stafanie Taylor led with an unbeaten score of 87 in the fourth and final Women’s ODI. Together with former captain Merissa Aguilleria they led the team to victory and the top of the table.

Taylor led by example copping the Player of the tournament in the just concluded series against the Pakistan women. Taylor finished the four match series with two Player of the Match awards and a total of 261 runs.

President and CEO, Wavell Hinds expressed his uttermost delight by saying, “This team has grown from strength to strength and has the belief and the drive to succeed. We are extremely proud of them and look forward to what the future brings for these ladies.”

The West Indies Women next face off in the ICC Women Championship against the South African Women in February of 2016 who are ranked third, 4 points behind the joint leaders West Indies Women and Australian Women.

Only in West Indies can the board of directors for cricket incur through their utter incompetence a multi million $$$$ liability, as a result of the abandonment of the India tour and this same board is reelected. In some other countries they would be jailed, they are so bold face with their incompetence they did not even consider resigning. Congrats to the ladies.

@anon – You have got to be kidding. Who told you that it was the WICB who called of the tour to India?

Wasn’t it the Dwayne Bravo led clan of players who said they were no longer going to take part in the tour?

As a matter of fact, the WICB communicated to the BCCI that it was willing to send replacement players from the West Indies A squad that was in Sri Lanka at the very same time the West Indies – India tour was taking place to replace those players on the West Indies team who did not want to continue on the India tour. However it appeared that the BCCI did not agree to that option.

All you just like to blame the WICB for everything. Where are y’all scathing condemnation for those greedy, internationally mediocre, so-called ‘star’ players in the West Indies team? Why don’t you put the blame where most of it belongs – at the feet of these West Indian cricketers!!!!

The women need to show the boys how to play cricket
What a shame for West Indian cricket
You mean 11 men cannot score two hundred runs
Samuel must go Ramdin must go
    The board must go
    To much politics in there
Let’s get serious West Indies needs to play with Zimbawe Kenya UAE
    And Scotland

@The preacher – Ummmm, let’s not get too carried away here. I congratulate the West Indies women for their wonderful performances but let’s not confuse men’s cricket and women’s cricket.

Men’s cricket is a much more difficult, faster paced and higher skilled game than women’s cricket.

I think we should have these ladies represent us in test cricket. I cannot do any worse than the men.

Huh? The ladies should represent us in test cricket?

In exactly which test cricket should the women represent us and against whom?

This is some good news considering the mens team is now an embarassment.
