X-Men and Raptors last night won their first matches in the best-of-five series of the LIME National Basketball finals in front of a large crowd at Lindo Park.
Game 1 – The Raffoul Snipers and the Gloria Shillingford Raptors match turned out to be a great starter to the big game, after a delay of one hour to allow the court to dry after some early showers. The Raptors stunned the Paix Bouche Raffoul Snipers. The Snipers had no answer to national player Steve Hypolite of the Raptors who poured in a game-high 32 points, guiding the Raptors to victory – 72 points to Snipers 61 points. Top-coring for Raptors were Steve Hypolite 32 pts, Curtis Akiel 20 pts and Devon Barton 11 pts, while Lenin Paul had 20 pts and Hendricks Holsborough 26 pts. Raptors now lead the series 1 – 0 going into the second game which is scheduled for Friday evening at Lindo Park.
Game 2 – The series causing all the buzz in the LIME National League saw the much hype and confident Paix Bouche Eagles lose game one to the veteran team, Glam X-men. In a tightly contested game,h X-Men led the third quarter, but the Eagles made the expected push and took the lead by five points which lasted up to the last two minutes in the third quarter when star palyer Garth Joseph made some inside moves to take back the lead. The lead was never relinquished in the fourth quarter with some clutch shooting by veteran player Davidson Toulon and tenacious defense by X-Men.
And the determined play by Eagles star player Brad and last-minute heroics by Earl Mathew and Lynvor John could not overcome the 8-point lead. Final scores: Glam X-Men 80 points to Paix Bouche Eagles 72 points. Top-scoring for the X-Men were Davidson Toulon 32 points and Garth Joseph 18 points, while Andel “Brad” George 28 points, Lynvor John 19 points and Earl Matew 13 points top-scored for the Eagles.
The second game of the series for both Premier and Division 1 will continue on Friday at the Lindo Park from 7 pm.

@ JACKO AS I said there were bad calls against both teams! In the end it was the UNANSWERED POINTS that hurt the Eagles not the officials. You are right that all players, Garth included, should be treated fairly & equally. In that case, the officials are definitely against the big men. Just because they are bigger doesn’t mean you can get away with slapping & pushing. Every game I’ve seen him play he is fouled constantly & rarely gets the call. The same was true in the Pros & Eagles game. Ramal Carbon was getting beat up under the basket & nothing was called.
Bad calls will always be made against both sides & calls will be missed. The refs are only human.
@FIBA Trained . You are bias. How can expect more from the Eagles when those untrained refrees have a like and prefer atitude towards the teams? How You expect better basketball from the eagles when the refrees are constantly blowing bad calls against them? The refrees are the ones who have X men in the finals. Sharks played better basketball than the x men but the refrees were the ones who decided who they wanted at the finals. my personal opinion is that the officils should watch garth as a player like any other player on the court who commits a foul and stays in the key for more than 5 seconds and also Mickety as a coach and NOT PRO during the game.
I have no personal interest in who wins, but do enjoy basketball & am a FIBA trained official.
If you don’t know FIBA rules please don’t comment about the officiating. Especially, if you are saying t was in favor of the XMEN. As with every game, calls are missed for both sides. BUT, when a player is on defense with his feet planted & the offensive player runs into him & falls down, it is a foul on offensive player!!! There should of been 5 charges called against the Eagles that were not called. The one time Garth was moving his feet when the offense ran into him & he was called for the foul.
Honestly, I thought both teams could play better. All year long I’ve heard how great the Eagles are & how great the XMEN are. The Xmen guards alone had a minimum of 15 turn overs. The Eagles were resorting to dirty play & going for the man, not the ball. Two of those fouls against the Eagles should of been intentional fouls. I hope both teams have a better showing tonight.
ALSO, Mickey is not president of the DABA, Dave Baron is. Dave doesn’t coach a team. ROBO was president & was coaching a team! So lets stop making excuses & blaming Mickey.
Dave Baron, you’re still president for another year. I suggest you get in touch with FIBA & have all your referees properly trained. Until then, basketball in Dominica can not progress. I believe there is a training team in Saint Lucia. USE IT!

so when eagles beat x-men in the season it was ok, experience counts and its only 1 game, have faith in your team and continue to support and dont look for excuses.
Mickey joseph is the one incharge of basketball,Garth is highlighted as the God of basketball,Granted that he have played NBa and european Basketball,but should it be so blatant that the officiating have to be so one-sided ?
Can someone tell me ,how is the X_men not going to win the championship .The writing is already on the wall.Nor matter how good Eagles play,they can never win !.There is no way God Garth will not be handed the championship ,that will spoil the picture .The perfect picture!

And on Friday tell them referees stop being scared of Mickey and referee the game fairly. Peggy stop supporting x-men and letting it show. Allan and Stepfoot, kill sharks with bad calls. Last night Peggy the referee cause the game to almost get into chaos because of his bad calls, them Eagles man had to fight to survive. Referee fairly and the game will go alright. Bring back Burton.
