The family is grateful for the tremendous outpouring of support from persons in all walks of life, which we have received during the past 48 hours. People have been making phone calls, messaging on social media and taking to the radio airwaves to express their condolence on hearing of Mikey’s passing. These have been a great source of comfort to us in this difficult time, coming so soon after the passing of another brother, Reggie.
While we mourn his loss, we thank God for the gift of Mikey’s life on earth. The family is indeed proud of his achievements and the contribution he made to society. The fact that he was able to touch so many lives in a positive manner speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. So many stories have been told about how he made a difference in people’s lives or brought a smile and made someone’s day. What is amazing is that he was able to accomplish all these things while for the most part staying out of the public view.
We pray God’s blessings upon all those who rallied around Mikey and lifted his spirits during the trying final days before he moved on from this life to the next.
At this time, funeral arrangements are being put in place and details will be announced as soon as they have been finalised.
I never had the opportunity to meet Mikey but I knew of him and his generous nature. Our family and all of Dominica has lost a great man. The testimonies of love, appreciation, and respect are overwhelming. I’m sorry I didn’t get to experience this grand gentleman’s company. To his children, siblings, extended family, colleagues, and friends: I hope that warm memories of times with Mikey will one day bring you peace. May he rest in perfect peace.

RIP good man . you will be missed but you left behind a great legacy .
Deepest condolences to the Bruney Family on this sorrowful loss.
My deepest of condolences to the entire Bruney family and friend. One night I went to a Christmas party and he was there, when he saw me with my lovely eye shadow he said , “There comes a Christmas Tree”. Whilst we were all there laughing I said to him, “I will not make the angle cause cors dat will not be right , not the star so chose a light blub.” He started laughing so hard the all he could say was you and I can be dear friends. His pet name for was BCT. From now on I will make you the star and angle of my Christmas Tree my friend. May you rest in eternal peace with your angles. Save some jokes for me.

Very nice of the family to acknowledge the public’s kind sentiments. Mikey Bruney had the common touch. He greeted everyone he met and was kind. I got the impression that it was easy to get along with him. He was involved in so many aspects of the Dominican society, reflecting his interests and talents. Certainly, he was a Good Citizen. My sympathy to his family and close friends.
Our hearts are broken at the news of Mike’s passing. Angel and I (Amanda) met him 12 years ago when he took on our case and 12 yrs later was still working on it. This wonderful man with his infectious sense of humour, undaunting spirit to do right for the wronged and huge integrity has left us deeply sad…Our gratitude knows no bounds, our appreciation and affection for him is abiding. Rest in Eternal Peace Mikey, the chasm of grief you leave behind can never be filled..You will remain in our hearts until we meet again.
