Dominican entertainer, Sukie, has been released from a Grenadian prison on good behavior and video footage on social media shows that he is back in Dominica.
He was sentenced to six months behind bars for indecent assault in December 2022 but served only four.
Acting Commissioner of Prisons in Grenada, Rupert Neckles, explained to the media in Grenada why Sukie did not serve his full sentence.
“He spent four months of six because prison regulations states that one-third of a sentence handed down by the court would be taken away for good behavior and industry,” he stated.
He added that while Sukie was incarcerated, he was “really disciplined.”
“In fact when I spoke to him prior to his release, he indicated that commissioner I am going out there to record all the songs that I composed within your prison,” Neckles said.
“So we do wish Sukie all the best.”
Videos began circulating on social media earlier this week of Sukie in Dominica.
Many people have commented on the videos, welcoming the artiste back to the island. The entertainer, whose real name is Shane Edward, was accused of inappropriately touching a Guyanese teenager living in Canada who was a guest at a resort on the south of the island.
He was a guest at the hotel awaiting to perform at a concert at the Grenada National Cricket Stadium on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
According to Grenadian law, indecent assault carries a maximum sentence of five years behind bars.
But when Sukie went to court last December, his attorney, Jerry Edwin, pleaded for a lesser sentence.
In mitigation he asserted that his client is apologetic to the court, the victim, and her parents for his behavior.

Welcome home my boy.
Make God your priority sukie.
I hope that Sukie’s time incarcerated was spent doing some soul searching. Now, outside the prison, I wish that he will focus more on his craft and become the best that he can be as an entertainer and a force for good.
May God guide your thoughts, Sukie, and you go on to be an inspiration to others. The world will see in you the power and determination to overcome overwhelming odds.
