Building a Startup in 90 Days | Business Model pt. 1

Startups are typically born out of big, innovative, bright ideas. However, even the most luminous idea will quickly fade and die out, if you fail to execute it properly. That’s why, at the core of every successful startup, there needs to be a sound, profitable business model.

The business model is the most important step in the entire process of building a startup. So I will be splitting this section into two parts. Today’s post, (pt. 1) will introduce the business model concept, and the second (pt. 2) will break down usedtx.’s process by analysing the results from the survey in Identifying Potential Customers and then outlining a blueprint for the future operations of the business.

To introduce the business model I’d like to highlight a youtube video along the same lines of today’s topic, by international finance major and founder of Finance Focus, Luana Laurent. Luana’s video was spot on for what a business model should be and is explained better than I could put in words.

If you’re interested in learning more about Finance and/or looking for Financial advice, Luana can be reached via linkedin.com: https://www.linkedin.com/in/luana-laurent-msc-if-96108997/

Who am I?

My name is Austin Lazarus and I have been in the Startup scene since 2014. My first experience came through the Digital Jam 3.0 App competition in Jamaica. Since then I’ve been to other regional Pitch competitions and worked and collaborated with both local and regional entrepreneurs. My most proud moment came from placing 2rd at the NCB Digital Innovation Challenge in Jamaica for Innovation in banking solutions.

Now, apart from my day job, I develop and operate the software solution for Restaurateurs and local vendors, BudgEat.
