Many Dominicans gathered to witness some cultural and agricultural highlights of the Independence season at the annual Market Day With a Difference which was held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Roseau  Market.

Market Day With a Difference aims at recognizing persons who have contributed to the agricultural development of Dominica. The Roseau Market Organization, in collaboration with the Dominica Export Import Agency(DEXIA), identified a total of nine farmers and vendors who were awarded for their creativity, dedication and the diversity which was on display among  the various produce/product stands. Their names which are listed below, were announced by the General Manager of DEXIA, Gregoire Thomas.

Kimberly Wade- Youngest Vendor
Philomen Joseph- Oldest Vendor
Samuel Pacquette- Best Butcher
Merlyn Boston- Best Snackette
Emmanuel ‘Mano’ Pierre- Best Mobile Vendor
Hazel Baptiste Thomas- Best Shop
Margaret Baron- Most regular Vendor
Frances Francis- Best Vendor’s Booth
Albertine Green-Best Saturday Vendor of Fresh Produce

Thomas explained to those gathered that because of the crowded area and inconvenience in time for the awardees, they will be given their tokens of appreciation at an official award ceremony in the near future.

Wow! I love these arrangements of produce.
    Congratulations to the awardees.
I agree that the award ceremony should take place at a different time and in a dignified manner.
Some people state nothing is occurring in Dominica? Look around you. Appreciate what is occurring in your country where you reside. Do your part and try to enhance it. Only then could you truly love it and appreciate it.
God bless Dominica and all who reside there including those who do their utmost to make Dominica a better place, peacefully and unified. You are to be commended.

Sweet Dominica, the land of beauty
The land of cocoa, grapefruits and oranges
The land of rivers and glorious sunshine . . .
