Tissue paper company to offer shares

nature islabdDominica’s first and only tissue paper company, Nature Island Paper Products Incorporated (NIPP Inc) will be hosting a forum which will allow Dominican investors to be part of the company through the purchase of shares.

Dubbed “Grassroots Investment Pitching” the event will be held on Thursday 25 July at The Garraway Hotel.

This is part of moves by the company to capture the entire Dominican market, of which it has 25 to 30 percent penetration, and simultaneously, make use of the OECS Economic Union, to expand its base.

Managing Director Severin McKenzie said the move will sustain the company’s profitablity as well as its exports. “With state-of-the-art and highly energy-efficient machinery, NIPP Inc is well positioned to capture the Dominica market and that of the Leeward Islands, but we must expand now with new products and into new markets,” he emphasized.

NIPP Inc was officially launched in 2010 at the Canefield Industrial Site.

Since then, it has participated in Compete Caribbean business innovation window, from which an innovative business plan was prepared for the company.

NIPP now produces “Falls Soft” and “Emerald Touch” toilet tissue and Serviette Dominique paper towel.

The company believes that through “Grassroots Investment Pitching,” ordinary Dominicans can be a part of its growth and own shares in the tissue paper business.

The upcoming forum comes at a time when NIPP awaits a major breakthrough in the Venezuelan market, due to a shortage of tissue paper in that country.

Good move Mr.Mckenzie..I wish you much success in your private share offering.Good opportunity for D/cans to get involved in something local.I responded sometime ago to another article on DNO with a tweet that basically said why not do the same thing with a juice/canning factory for all our fruits etc.that go wasted. In light of the Poll now on DNO regarding how should government spend/budget for development/job creation purposes, agriculture and all that is encompassed within it seems to be leading in the Poll and rightly so.My point then and still today is if the government is truely serious about jobs and agriculture, they both complement each other as we would all agree, use the resources they have to get the “ball rolling”..find a suitable location, build the infrastructure, set up the admin, sales, etc.and then very, very soon after, once its off the ground,REMOVE ITSELF FROM OWNERSHIP and offer the public the opportunity to buy and own shares sold at a profit(premium),off course,in something that they can call their own, that D/cans will have a vested interest in,to see it become profitable and successful….that will creat jobs and spur the agriculture community to plant and grow stuff that they can readily sell and help develop DA…no more waste like Randy Aaron was talking about with his cherries…this would not affect BELLO’S but compliment it…that is how we can do thing in DA…INSTEAD OF ALWAYS HOPING SOME INVESTOR WILL SHOW UP….LET US DO THINGS FOR OURSELVES.

I would like to clarify that Nature Island Paper Products Inc (NIPP Inc.) is NOT going public, we are selling shares in a PRIVATE OFFERING, the purpose of the “Grassroots Investment Pitching” is to present the company to potential investors. We are looking for investors who share our vision and aspire to build one of the most productive enterprises in Dominica and the OECS.
If you are selling your house you put it on the market for a period of time to attract the best buyer, it’s the same basic principle, we are exposing our company publicly but the sale of shares is through a PRIVATE OFFERING.
Anyone interested in being part of the company can email [email protected].
    Hope this clarifies.

Good move, good move. I might not be able to buy shares but I only buy their toilet paper when i am shopping. I look around for it. For some reason there is something about Mr.McKenzie i like. Maybe because he is a straight forward person who says exactly what he thinks and feel. If it was just up to me, that company would be doing very good.

I agree with your description of Mr. Mckenzie, and might I add a very hard working individual who has persevered despite the hurdles and barriers. I would like to encourage all Dominicans to buy local, support our local businesses. We have to help boost each other in this economic environment.
Nature Island paper products produces products that every Dominican uses, so if we support by buying the products, the business will grow and it will definitely improve the Dominican economy.
Same goes for any local business or service provided in Dominica. i find we import too much of the things we produce. Lets turn this around by buying LOCAL

Is this what is meant when a company goes Public? I thought going public meant listing on a stock exchange where shares can be bought and sold by the general public. This sounds like a private offer to the public to participate in the financing of the company. When it is done the company will still not be a publicly traded company. Admin clarification please.

I don’t understand why a toilet tissue would be called “Emerald Touch”. An emerald, although beautiful and valuable, is a hard, rigid object. So an emerald touch is not something that I would associate with soft and comfy, which is what I want in my toilet tissue. I would certainly not use an emerald to wipe myself (nose or derriere) nor would I wipe with something that I consider valuable. So I don’t get the reasoning behind the name. Maybe someone with better insight can enlighten me. But name aside, I applaud the entrepreneurship and I wish the company all the best and continued success.

This is wonderful news for Dominica and for the Dominicans who are potential workers and investors. I’m ever so proud of our Island! I do hope that the product will be exported world wide so that those of us abroad generally will have the privilege of buying it. God bless Dominica!!!!
