DDA organises Wedding and Honeymoon Workshops

PRESS RELEASE: The Discover Dominica Authority with funding from the Tourism Sector Development Program- SFA is continuing its efforts in marketing Dominica as an ideal Wedding and Honeymoon Destination.

A series of four (4) workshops targeting wedding service providers will be held from Monday, April 19 to Thursday, April 22, 2010.These workshops will focus mainly on strengthening the development of the Wedding and Honeymoon niche tourism product and building the capacity of relevant public and private sector persons and organizations involved or wishing to become involved in this market.

At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to have a better understanding of the trends and techniques of the wedding and honey moon niche market. Ms. Nathalie John of Dreamy Weddings and Tours Inc along with other reputable facilitators from the region will host these workshops.

Destination Wedding and Honeymoon is one of the fastest growing sector in the Tourism Industry valued at US$12.5 billion. Every year an average of 2.4 million weddings are performed in the U.S. Among couples who choose traditional weddings, 99 percent take a honeymoon in a destination.   10 percent of all marriages within the U.S are destination weddings i.e weddings taking place outside the couple’s place of residence.

Couples are now looking for exotic and romantic destinations for weddings and honeymoons.  Dominica offers all the natural attributes, which are a significant component of this growing trend.

I wish the article would have presented a snippet of what a destination wedding in Dominica looks like. What would the package include? From airfare, hotel accomondations for guests, non denomination weddings, beach weddings, limosine to reception. How would the package work?Who would you contact for more information on these packages? It’s a great idea though.

ADMIN: This is a press release. That information will be made available in a subsequent report following the launch on Monday.
