Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), is pleased to announce the arrival of Ms. Vicky Emily Chandler to Dominica in the role of Destination Marketing Manager.
Ms. Chandler will be responsible for the leadership guidance of the DDA Marketing Team in implementing the marketing elements of the Corporate Strategy and Action Plan.
Having spent the last twenty-three (23) years working in Tourism, Destination Marketing and Public Relations at the Barbados Tourism Authority as a US Based Officer, Marketing Manager and most recently Director of Marketing – Caribbean and Latin America, Ms. Chandler has a proven record of successfully pursuing business opportunities and establishing strategic partnerships that augment reach within key market segments.
DDA’s Chairman shared that, “Ms. Chandler has a wealth of experience that she can apply to the position, particularly at this juncture when Dominica’s tourism growth is carded for many new hotel developments, a Destination Rebranding and a Cruise Strategy and Action Plan soon to be implemented.”
Ms. Chandler enthusiastically stated that she is “truly honoured and excited to be joining the DDA Team to promote the amazing destination of Dominica”.
Along with Ms. Chandler’s expertise, her winning attitude and drive are assets that will complement and heighten DDA’s ability to prove that Dominica is the destination of choice!
well she deserve s chance
‘Marketing’ Dominica is a pointless exercise. It’s rather like yelling ‘taxi !” at someone in the rather strange belief that they didn’t know they needed one. Independent travellers love to travel, they read about the world in detail and know where they want to go and what they want to do with their savings. Their ‘bucket list’ will include all the iconic destinations of the world – Dominica may even already be on it – but let’s not kid ourselves; this is a very beautiful place but it is not the ‘nature island of the world’. People will either come here or they won’t and a very obviously staged HDR photo of a woman in a straw hat in front of a waterfall is not going to sway anyone. It’s time to stop pouring millions into tourism and simply leave it as a by-product of a pretty island. What Dominicans need are meaningful careers, not poorly-paid service jobs in foreign-owned hotels. As for cruise ship tourists, they don’t care where they go. They just want some sunshine…
You are correct, this is like grabbing on to smoke; they want tourism, however, “we doh want no international airport, because Antigua and Barbados have one already!”
“Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), is pleased to announce the arrival of Ms. Vicky Emily Chandler to Dominica in the role of Destination Marketing Manager.”
Vicky, I hate to be the one to bring you the bad news: I am sorry to tell you; your efforts shall be a total waste of time.
If we are talking about tourism marketing the idea of bringing you to Dominica to get involve into it as far as I am concerned is considered DOA: ” Dead On Arrival.” Let it be known as good as you or anyone else may be in your profession there are many hindrances and obstacles which will prevent your knowledge from proving productive.
Your number one obstacle is the lack of an International Airport, I doubt you are a miracle worker, or some sort of a god: And certainly you are not God; another obstacle will be the sad Dominica cry “we doh have de money.”
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
@:That fly bag above, You are a sick old man and Jehovah witness at that your organisation said do not vote, Do not get involved in political matters and many more like blood Transfusion, you keep to your Religion pray to God your twitelight life will soon be over, the young lady did not asked for your opinion so piss off Mr idiot to Hell in the land of KKK.
You that dog man there: If you are referring to me, shall I remind you that a fool can only understand his own thoughts. He can only understand what develops in his mind, any information that is not his own he cannot understand.
Knowledge is power, wisdom is strength, both of which I have plenty!
In my twilight years I am smarter than you, what I am leaving in the cemetery, in my head to decay; you will never possess 1/1 of it; even if you live to be thousand years old!
You were born a dog, and an idiot, and that you shall remain to the very day of your demise fool!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!
I am a practicing Christian a firm believer in Jesus Christ, I never once wrote on this site I am Jehovah Witness, and even if I was I am better off than you an atheist, the son of the devil. In event dunce people are lairs too they have to make up things as dogs do oui!
You know that in life sometimes all we need is someone to give you a break. Someone top encourage us.
Why are you always so negative on things Dominica. Just imagine that all your postings were in support of Dominica…….You know what impact that will be. Why don’t you reverse your trend to the spirit on leading a hand by being more positive. With the talent and education that you display, don’t you think that you can have a positive impact on our development
I think you should give the lady a hearty welcome and be prepared to support her.
We have a comparative advantage over many islands when it comes to Tourist and the Travel industry.
It is a very competitive business and we need all the support we can get, including yours.
It should not be partisan politics, it cannot be red or blue. It has to be all Dominican hands on deck, because a successful tourist industry will benefit all of us including generation to come.
So please Sir, be positive and encouraging.
some people conscience cannot hold lies like yours….they will always speak the truth
Clean Roseau up first. It is a mess. If you don’t do that everything else is a waste of money and time.
Emil, one of the reasons why Dominica is in this mess, is because people like you are too quick to accept anything, and support it! Anything anybody in Dominica think of and push it in your faces, it becomes acceptable.
Think about this, for more than twenty years I supported the idea of building an International Airport, I do not know if you were around. Skerrit, and his Labor Party said: ” we doh want it; it too expensive to build; ‘beside Barbados and Antigua have one already.’
Twenty years ago it was coasting the UWP a little over three hundred million dollars. ”
Roosevelt and Labor Party clowns said “we doh want it.”
Nevertheless, Skerrit said recently, it will cost more than a billion dollars to build. That is the kind of rubbish I will never condone, and speak positive about. They are talking about “marketing Dominica.” if they are talking about tourism; how can you market a place promoting tourism, when you do not have an International Airport on the…
Continue:
Emil, unless the country is developed to a point where people have easy access by air internationally into Dominica, you and Skerrit and all the marketing will not change anything. Once per year during tourist season ships come in; they spend about eight hours in the port.
On one ship there is more food to feed all of Dominica for a year or more, the passengers eat their three meals aboard, they spend very little money on the island, that is not paying any dividends!
However, if there was an International Airport on the island, and this lady has a strategy to attract people to come to the island via air, I suspect an extended holiday could last between five and ten days.
Within that time the tourist must spend money on the island, only then the island will begin to benefit from the tourist dollar.
She can spend fifty years promoting Dominica as Nature island, that will not help! I am as positive as can be!
Politics aside please!
Here you go Dominica….. that’s the kind of DIE-ASS-POOR-RAS who claims Dominica first and Love for Country.
Anything good in this country Dominica gets a negative spin from this guy. Yet he lives in a country where he has no say and his free speech is comparable to “Fake News”. KKK walks the street freely without hoods embolden by their president.
Have you heard him comment on the ills of the US. Noooo. DDA is trying their best and he is being critical.
You are a Sick Man!!
Keep on dumping you all own to the curb, which am sure we have highly qualified citizens, but this is Dominica and the same old injustice will keep on happening and when the people speak out they are targeted.but as so many of you say Skerrit is God so it continues.
“Keep on dumping you all own to the curb,w”
Well, her roots might well be planted in Dominica you know; in the village New Town to be precise. If you go to Antigua, anybody you find with the name Chandler, their parent came out of Dominica, and settles in St. Johnson Village.
In the middle of St. Johns there is a Gas Station owned by Frederick Chandler, I am not sure if he is still alive, but his parent are from Dominica, out of that place we called New Town!
Now; I did not say she is related to anybody in Dominica, I am just saying Chandler is a Dominica name too!
Good luck my lady… Hope you last through all the burecracies that you will encounter along the way
Welcome. Keep the Nature Island Nature. Only 2 things I would change better roads, better hotel accommodation. well maybe 3, a better airport, Everything else is just fine.
Fran, you forget about the paros?
I’m giving her 3 years.
The political climate along with the nasty office politics PLUS the general laissez faire attitude of Dominica’s working population will make her hold her head and run screaming from this place.
As expected someone had to comment on the fact that she is not from Dominica. And like always I have to remind them of the sheer number of Dominicas employed in other countries. Just recently a Dominican was appointed to a very important position in St. Kitts. It is time to look as the region as one.
Bye Gutter your thought process is just like the gutter you associate you name to. Read a book dear you sound mental
Uhm it is one thing to be employed in other Caribbean Countries, but in position of branding and representing Dominica in that capacity should be the face of a Dominican
Well said my dear.. My point exactly
So you mean to tell me all the students they sending overseas to study hence all the qualified Dominicans thats out there they keep picking these people from outside Dominica.. Carmem..
By your logic no Dominican should be employed in a foreign country. Do you see how silly that sounds?
woman that wasnt what i projected. Thanks and good bye. Keep your mouth and legs close. Thanks
She is a Caricom citizen with a Caricom passport.
Did the students sent overseas to study and qualified Dominicans you refer to applied for the job?
Yes they did.. keep your legs close to intelligent people having real world conversations. Thanks and bye
@marie-claire R Skerrit; though there may be academically qualified people in or of Dominica, they may not have the experience to handle such position As we can see, the island is not doing well under the incompetent people holding positions on the island, they all seem to only be interested in having a job! You may also know that those qualified and experienced people of the island who live outside of the island will not be selected by these incompetent corrupt rogues posing as government, they’ve got too much to hide, therefore maybe employing a foreigner will serve them in their crooked ways!
Well said dear. Its sad
I am glad someone else said it before I did so I know I’m not the only one seeing this constant nonsense and Dominicans taking it without “Rubber”
Welcome to Dominica! We look forward to working with you.
WHOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS she will be gone before festival. Watch
Look Ms. Skerrit or whoever you are, we chose a Dominican to be our Prime Minister and look at the mess we are in. Maybe you are one of those that was not shortlisted for the interview?
Let`s see how long she lasts!
Welcome to the Nature Isle. Tourism offering in Dominica is quite different from Barbados, St. Kitts or even St.Lucia.
Dominica has a significant comparative advantage for nature and adventure seekers, Good Food (farm to table concept)..Camping, Hiking..etc..Our Natural sites need significant improvements in order to extract more expenditure from visitors..
The potential for Tourism development in Dominica is great..Let’s all put hands together..Remember Tourism is everybody’s business..
