Discover Dominica Authority takes over marketing of Waitukubuli National Trail

January 21, 2011 will mark the official hand over of the marketing responsibilities of the Waitukubuli National Trail from the Project Management Unit of the Trail to the Discover Dominica Authority, the marketing arm of the Nature Island.

After much anticipation of the development of the trail, the Discover Dominica Authority is delighted on this occasion, as this hand over of marketing responsibilities signifies the near completion of the entire trail.

During the development phase, both entities, the Waitukubuli National Trail Project Management Unit and the Discover Dominica Authority worked together in facilitating several press visits, where international and regional journalists took a tour of various segments and wrote numerous articles on the trail.  This has already resulted in much interest from regional and international visitors.

Mindful that the trail in itself is the actual attraction, the Waitukubuli National Trail Technical Advisory Committee has been exploring management related matters that will impact on the visitor experience.

This will be pursued as part of the ongoing activities in development of the trail in collaboration with key partners, including the Discover Dominica Authority, Forestry, Wildlife and National Parks Division, respective communities along the trail and tourism service providers.

Could you name just one of those fancy office bound people in DDA who actually loves the bush and mud and rain? They are all Office Rangers rather than Forest Rangers. Do they actually understand the hiking market out there in the big wide world? Those people who hike the New Zealand trail, Tibet, Machu Pichu in Peru, the Appalachian trail in the US? Sorry I am not confident on this one.

I agree entirely. I doubt if the DDA would know a trail if it fell on top of them.

A question: Where is Bernard Wiltshire? He has been pushing this trail for a while as far as I know.

Papa met! here goes the trail! Contract for political lackeys, square pegs in round holes,
corruption and nepotism. I’m listening and watching.

    ……………………..KEEP IT SIMPLE………………………

LOOK!!!!!! Why don’t we just keep this simple….

    All and I mean all……….
All trails, parks or any attractions in DA with any significance to tourist attractions should be placed under one roof!! I mean why should we be having so many marketing divisions for DA attractions?? It makes no sense! Our marketing needs to be unified!! So give it all to Discover Dominica as long as they are doing a good job!!

    What do you think?

I see progress. Congrats to the Team and DDA I know you’ll handle the marketing well. But please ensure that you do. We’re talking about a million dollar project here and surely we want to be placed more on the map with this trail project in addition to the strengthening and development of the tourism sector.
