LIAT resumes services

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, June 18, 2010 – LIAT wishes to announce that its services have resumed throughout its network.

LIAT was forced to cancel all fights on Wednesday and Thursday because of industrial action taken by its pilots who are represented by the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA).

All affected passengers are being allowed to rebook without additional costs. LIAT cannot guarantee travel to passengers who turn up at the airport without confirmed bookings. Passengers are therefore urged to contact the LIAT Call Centre to rebook their flights (from Antigua – 480-5582; Toll free from the rest of the Caribbean – 1-888-844-5428; and from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands 1-866-549-5428).

While the Company is doing everything to minimize the effect on passengers, they are being advised that for the rest of the day they should expect delays.

LIAT regrets and would like to apologise for the inconvenience to its customers/passengers who were affected by the disruption of its services.

I see that you are yaking this at a personal level, but for one who says that they are educated, you would know that an Airline company is not some cheap bus service, the real matter of the story was on the news, would you say that British Airways is not paying their Crew as well ? for your information they had a strike as well, would you say that they have poor management skills?

Ordinary caribbean business owners would not be able to come this close to running such an enterprise like LIAT, I DARE YOU TO PUT YOURSELF IN THOSE AGENTS SHOES TO SEE HOW THEY FEEL FIND INFORMATION TO INFORM YOU GUYS ON THE PA SYSTEM, the first thing we will say is that nobody informing us about what going on, that is why Dominicans get in trouble with the law at caribbean airports, because we always get on STUPID IN SITUATIONS LIKE THAT.

DOMINICANS NEED TO BE EDUCATED AND STOP BEING HUNGRY AT CARIBBEAN AIRPORTS WHENEVER THERE IS A DELAY, I DOES BE ASHAMED WHEN DOMINICANS BEGG AT THE COUNTERS FOR FOOD AND OTHER PASSENGERS LAUGH AT US SAYING WE ALWAYS HUNGRY.

LIAT SHOULD EDUCATE DOMINICANS ABOUT TRAVEL, you go on Daily observer news online and I can guarantee you that other caribbean nationals give more sound views on the situations STOP BEING STUPID AND SENSELESS.

Lola, report from Antigua advised that all affected passengers to trans atlantic flights were rebooked by LIAT to Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Delta, Air Canada etc. LIAT was aware of the situation and blocked seats on Virgin for Dominican Passengers on Friday. I must applaud them for a job well done in advance.

@Radan, If you were flying out of the Caribbean to the UK or France you would want to catch your flight on time. Stop being a fool and backing up LIAT on everything that went wrong. If your Government was doing what had to be done and offered us and INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT years ago, LIAT would not be underpaying their pilots. Therefore, the pilots would not be going on strike all the time. Running your mouth about LIAT this and LIAT that. Oh please. LIAT is being poorly managed and doesn't take a genius to see that. I traveled on Friday, my flight was almost 2 hour late from Dominica then I had to stay Antigua over and hour sitting on the damn plane again. You want to talk about first priority?? LIAT has only one first priority that is maximizing its profits no matter what. Half an hour into the delay is when the fools coming on the speakers announcing the delay like we ain't see it have a delay. Stop talking rubbish and educate yourself first on what is to retain customers. Maybe if most of us Dominicans were educating ourselves more we wouldn't be taking such non-sense from LIAT and our Government.

yes all very well they getting there flights sorted out, but what about those people that where supposed to catch trans atlantic on virgin/air france, and did not make it, will liat make sure those people can carry on there journeys, because i dont know about you but i dont know many dominicans who can afford another 2 thousand dollars for a replacement flight, that is what i am saying.
