US to lift tourist visa restrictions

Obama

US President Barack Obama says his administration is moving to relax the requirements for applicants of tourist visas to the United States of America, and is targeting the Chinese and Brazilian markets to improve its tourist arrivals.

“Tourism is the number one service we export and that is because we have a great product to sell,” he said via video conference to those in attendance at the Caribbean Tourism Summit and Outlook Seminar 2012 being held at the Ritz Carlton Golf and Spa Resort in Montego Bay.

I have no faith in this so called “Black President”.I don’t totally blame him for the situation the US is in but it seems to me he will do or say anything to get re-elected. Maybe his is even making arrangement with the devil too.

But i still want him to succeed because success for him is a stepping stone for any other true black man or woman who would run for the presidential position in the future.

Ten years in Dominica I have yet to see a Chinese tourist! The Chinese USA is talking about are the ones with cameras taking pictures and spending big money! It’s not a race thing it’s a money thang!

This may or may not be about election tactics as President Obama has also agreed to permit young migrants to remain in the US. According to a recent Executive Order, “Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children will be allowed to remain in the country without fear of deportation and able to work.

One thing that we can be sure about, however, the US administration will not be moving to relax the requirements for applicants of tourist visas from countries like Dominica where the issuance and ownership of our national passport remains in limbo and under suspicion of international fraud.

This is all due to election year tactics. He is also allowing all the illegals that have been in the states for years to stay and giving them voting rights. Sound familiar?

    • rizbiz
      June 16, 2012

he is not giving them voting rights…. just allowing the children who grew up there with no fault of their own to be able to work and drive….get your facts straight… even though it is political, it is the right thing to do

alyou better be thankful to the chinese people because if it wasn’t for them alot of us would not be able to wear new clothes,. alot of children can now jump skip rope without having to worry about their panties having hole. All the so call big time stores were sooooooooo expensive, that we couldn’t afford to buy our children clothes for a long time. Thank to the chinese people. I grew up going to school without shoes. Now all my granchildren can go to school with shoes. Thank you again for the chinese.

      June 15, 2012

listen lucy, Dominica doesn’t have what it takes to attract the chinese tourist….. the people they are speaking of “TOURISTS” if u are up to date with world affairs. are the new ELITE….these people want gucci, fendi, prada, Louis Vuitton etc etc…

these people are not looking for lime squash and coconut water…. let alone to get grass and bush stains on their chinchilla…

keep dreaming people….. we are an ECO TOURISM destination please don’t go out of context. the vendors on the boardwalk wont have what these people are travelling in search of…. they will bypass those stalls and go straight to pirates, land, Colombian emerald et al…. 8)

      keep it all in context.

The article linked to is a waste of time. No details on what was changed. All fluff and no substance. An internet search shows that at this time it is only being reported in the Jamaican media. Take this one with a grain of salt.

in the US its no secret the nature of relationship with the chineese but in Dominica no one not one of us on the streets other than the Prime Ministers and a few of his close party collegues know the nature of the Dominica China Agreement, thats why we have to be concern.

    • Peeping Tom
      June 15, 2012

CIA on the watch: “in the US its no secret the nature of relationship with the chineese.” Oh really? The “nature” of the relationship between Dominica and China and Dominica and the US is the same: mutual interest. It is also the same between China and the US …the US and Russia…the US and Bogoville.

Additionally, is there a “Dominica China Agreement?”

You are having some problems making a cogent argument here, CIA on the watch!

    • I and I
      June 16, 2012

You seem to be contradicting Mr.CIA..”No one” not one of us on the streets…Yet the PM and a few others know…What’s your imput even you should know but mere critisen where the move is good or bad.

meanwhile in dominica, potential tourist attractions such as the rainforest arial tram are closing down due to taxation, no subsidization and a downturn in cruise tourism. according to the minister responsible for tourism business is GREAT! we await reports with reference to the invitation of tourism business from china as well as the enhancement of our overall tourism product, subsidization where needed.

      June 15, 2012

apparently we have the short end of the stick in everything. i have no problem with china as a trading partner and in terms of tourism and other business just hate the feeling of being taken for fools who would rather beg than profit from the relationship(infrastructure is not profit since in the long run we have to meet the maintainence cost which can only be achieved through gaining income)

well there are diffrent stroke for diffrent folks,
what dominica is getting is not what america is getting.remember there are about one billion chinese.
