NEW YORK – (June 2, 2016) – New York-based travel writer, Baz Dreisinger, took home a Travel Media Award during Caribbean Week in New York. The annual award program is presented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).

Dreisinger’s article Dominica, an atypical carnival destination, won for “Best Feature by a US or Caribbean Journalist that appeared in Foreign Media.” The award-winning article appeared in the Canadian newspaper, Globe and Mail.

As part of its destination marketing program, Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) hosts several journalists annually on press trips to the island. Travel writers and bloggers visit the island and share their experiences with audiences through writing, photography and video.

“The crowning touch for our press trips is when a journalist is recognized for excellence for their writing about our beautiful island,” said Mr. Colin Piper, Director of Tourism and CEO of DDA. “We congratulate Ms. Dreisinger on this prestigious recognition and thank her for sharing the Dominica story.”

Travel Journalist Jill Robinson was also a finalist for the awards event for an article that she wrote on Dominica that appeared in the SF Gate.

Caribbean Week New York celebrates the sights, sounds, colors, culture and unique holiday experiences of the Caribbean.

Is this really as good as it gets for Dominica ? Surely there must be someone else who can promote the island in better ways than this ?
