Tropical Storm Warning in effect for Dominica; PM urges residents to take system seriously

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Dominica as of 3:00 pm today.

This, as Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 approaches Dominica. At 11:00 am today, the system was located about 510 miles east southeast of Dominica moving in a general westward direction. On this track, the centre of the system is expected to pass to the northeast of Dominica.

According to weather officials, Potential Tropical Cyclone 9 could become a tropical storm today, Wednesday, close to the Leeward Islands and Dominica.

In a statement earlier today, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced that “out of an abundance of caution” as of 3:00 pm this afternoon, a tropical storm warning would be issued for Dominica.

“I have also been advised that a concern for Dominica is for heavy rainfall which would cause flash flooding, landslides and gusty winds up to tropical storm force strength,” the prime minister stated.”We can all recall the devastation caused by floodwaters from systems in the past including Erika which was only a tropical storm.”

The prime minister urged citizens not to panic but to their plans into action.

“We want everyone to take the system seriously and pay close attention to the information that is provided to you. The focus of the public now must be on preparatory actions and activities,” he advised. “Take the time to make the necessary preparations to protect your lives and property.”

Skerrit said that all shelter managers had been put on alert and gave the assurance that no citizen would be left in an unsafe situation. He advised residents to take the time to know where their local shelter is located.

The prime minister said that equipment owners have been placed on alert to pre-position equipment to facilitate the quick road clearance if necessary. He also advised residents to limit outdoor activities during heavy rains and to move about with extreme caution especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides.

The prime minister’s full statement is posted below.

I will take a hurricane every year that last at least 8hrs. But i am not sure Dominica will ever be the same again with Hurricane Roosvelt Skerritt for another 5 years. Our country may have already been F’ed up for good. This hurricane has been blowing since 2004 non stop. All kind of Chinese an hatian debris blown in on the country and dominicans suffering.

My question is – How can this man address people with tarpaulin roofs and unsafe houses when he is safely tucked away in his multi-million dollar palace paid by some of these desperately poor tax payers.
The only things this man is exceptionally good at is LYING, HOGGING THE COUNTRY’S RESOURCES FOR HIMSELF and BAD MOUTHING MR. LINTON.
The man is a most corrupt, soulless and despicable human monstrosity. I’m unapologetic about that as I’m terribly aggrieved by this man’s heartlessness. The guy is the epitome of cruelty and selfishness.
    PS:
*Teargased a whole community while people were sound asleep
*Live in a palace paid for by taxpayers ($64 000 monthly) while an ever growing vagrant population lives on the streets, nowhere to rest their heads.

Sad for me to say this; nevertheless, Dominicans created the monster Roosevelt Skerrit, therefore they have to live with him; till death do they part!

The majority who voted Roosevelt care for the handout they get every five years. I can use Wesley as an example; Fidel his new puppet promised the people of Wesley gold.

People are still sitting with their hands between their legs waiting for Roosevelt and Fidel to repair their houses.

Fidel saw my sister house being built; he promised one of my relatives that he would put roof on my sister’s house!

I responded by doping a message on DNO  to him that I did not want any thieving materials or money from anybody to help my sister.

I built a house for my sister, aided a daughter from the ground up; it is completed, she moved into it a little over a week ago; its  the only house in the village started and finish since the hurricane.

      All others waiting on Roosevelt!

”We can all recall the devastation caused by floodwaters from systems in the past including Erika which was only a tropical storm.”
Skerrit does not know a thing about Erica because he was in Macau eating and dinning with NG Lap Seng and John Ash while we were being pounded by Erica. So Skerrit needs to shut it up and say nothing about Erica.

But Red Ants, he was in the UN for Maria. This was mentioned by Hon Ian Douglas in the House of Assembly today, Budget second day.
I understand that CNN was there reporting then former President Clinton and Prince Charles and others came to Dominica because of his plea.
Opposition forces went M.I.A. If if was not Skerrit and the DLP efforts of reconstruction they would still be in hiding.
I heard the opposition leader on the Budget today, he has not made one contribution, nor any alternative or idea for our development. I guess they are hiding in plain sight, with their minds in quarantine.
I was quite impress with the truth that the great hospital is being built in Roseau North , hotel and school in Barwee, and that the Marigot hospital is almost ready.
I keep telling you guys that 25 DLP seats is doable in the next election. 25 for DLP…..zero for uwp.
Notice the small letters used for opposition forces.

I must say you are foolish and shortsighted Joe. Remember that it is not the opposition that has the responsibility for carrying out projects and less so the money. You are confirming that the ruling government do not allocate any funds to projects proposed by the opposition even if it is a good one. They calling that cutting your nose to spite your face and is not only childish but damaging to our country. This is not China yet!
And if you want to spell UWP in small letters that is only showing your infantile shallow mind. There is a saying that the pepper is small but strong and I concur. Never underestimate anyone, it could be your downfall.i

    July 28, 2020

We just not getting a time to breathe in Dominica. It’s from one to another. But the fact is we have a very wicked man in office with an Evil cabinet, so what you expect? Remember Isaiah 48:22 “There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”

I really cannot tell you what is wrong with Lennox Linton or Lugay ? Are they still in grade one/standard one.
Were they expelled from grade one too? Do those two have a drinking problem? (ten o’clock in the morning)

In Los Angeles, when one believe they meet someone they believe is scholastically, or academically educated; they may ask that person: ” where did you go?”

That means which college or university did the person attend. In this case I think it is better for Lugay and Lennox to only attend grade (1) one; Stage one; than not to go at all eh!

I been reading you and as far as I am concern; you did not go!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Tell me where did you go?

John it seems you went about my time in kindergarten in Dominica; so be reminded we had “stage one, that is the first class, then stage two, and three, then we had standard one, two three, four, five, and finally standard seven.

If you graduate standard seven you were awarded a “School Leaving Certificate.”

That was until black people had the opportunity to go to secondary school; mainly the Roman Catholic Convent, Methodists Wesleyan high,  the DGS, and the St. Mary’s Academy.
