The Flash Flood Warning for Dominica has been discontinued as of 6:00 am today. However, unsettled conditions are expected to persist across the region during the next 36 to 48 hours.
In its 6:00 am weather advisory, the Dominica Meteorological Services stated that conditions in terms of rainfall have improved across Dominica steadily throughout the night. As a result, the Flash-Flood Warning has been discontinued as of 6:00 am today Sunday 11th November 2018.
Some occasional moderate to heavy showers are still possible and may lead to the rapid onset of flash-flooding due to the over saturated conditions already being experienced on the ground.
People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be vigilant and to exercise extreme caution as bands of moderate to heavy showers could move across the island during today.
It is sad now to see the effects of global warming. Excessive heavy rainfalls, earthquakes, droughts, massive hurricanes, forest fires. In addition, humankind isn’t making it any better all the homicide and more. I often find myself asking, are we now in the Book of Revelations?
Well that is some story you started your road trip Friday the heavy rain did not start until Saturday so you all was driving for two days? I wonder if you even know were you were Rosalie marigot is two different area all together and where is the Caribbean territory you must have been over seas to long please get it together (THIS IS MY STORY) and I am sticking to it.
I am a labourite and my friend is uwp and from the time I got home we have been arguing. I telling him DA is much better than what they saying and he telling me is those in the fire that feel the heat and keep saying I just need to stay here for a month to understand the crisis. Well, I have only been here for little over a week and what I experienced this weekend really helped me to see the struggle in a different light now. Right now I have already missed my flight from Da, and do not know when I can get out though I have to buy another ticket from San Juan to Florida. DA is dry weather country and boy I don’t know if I will risk coming back for festival and for sure I vow to not take PM advise to go on any drive around the island.
When we want to comment we hurry and write any thing with no sense at all just to comment .
I guess it is Skeritt that cause the rain and the flooding. Thanks for visiting, I guess you are now safely back in your eutopian world where everything is perfect.
Remember we got hit bad bad bad by a massive hurricane over a year eh. If things were so bad before that like we hear, believe me Dominica would cease to exist. My partner, Dominica not perfect but how people talking, is like Dominica is the worse of the worse. Sometimes I does really feel sorry for my people state of mind eh because I cannot believe how politics have us and what we turn into. I seeing we praising America, see who is their president, why we cannot hate America and Americans as much as some of us doing to our own country and people because of the man in power. Me self not in politics business but my country that eh.
This is my story. I left the US two weeks ago for reunion and was supposed to leave DA early Sunday morning. So since pm encouraged us to take a trip to see the development and concrete work that taking place, my friend took me on an island wide drive on Friday. Since I reside in St. Joseph and badly wanted to see the East coast in particular, we started heading south. When we got to the Layou bridge, instead of turning left to the back road, he went straight. So I told him the back road is faster. But I was surprised when he told me the back road was not good and has been closed for over a year. Long story short, we got to Rosalie and ran into heavy rain, we turned and decided to go through the Caribbean territory. More we drive is worse weather getting and he said he not taking a chance with Bells road so he went through Marigot. We encountered floods and forced to overnight in Calibishie where we at this moment. Sad thing I left travel docs in St Joe and can’t fly today
