On Sunday, November 6, significant flooding and major landslides occurred in the east and south east of the island due to a Trough System which left one man dead and some residents injured.

Roads were made impassable as a result of debris from the slides and homes as well as infrastructure were also greatly impacted.

Below is an update presented by the Press Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister on the government’s response to the situation in that part of the country.

Why did it take them a week to say anything?

Twenty two consecutive years of a DLP government. Despite this, the state of the country’s infrastructure is appallingly shameful. This reveals two things. One, the TYRANT has a shallow concern for the people. Two, the government has shown a staggering ineptitude to get things done.

The ‘resilient’ roads are not built resilient. There are no proper drainage system consequently giving rise to easy erosion. Any new infrastructure is more about theater than substance. No wonder, even a heavy downpour would cause devastating damages, in particular, to the poor design and construction of the roads.

All the Butcher of Vielle Case knows well is to scam his way to another election gain. He is reputationally deformed with many moral wounds.

Government already responded, they did so on the night of the disaster my on November 6, when the one man mark of the beast ran on the radio to announce a snap election. Nothing that one man Diab says now is important

    The photograph says it all!

This disaster warrants a detailed enquiry into the planning, cutting and construction of the roads in question. The rainfall caused by the trough system was nothing out of the ordinary for Dominica.

All too often road works and other infrastructures are carried out without due consideration of the sensitivity of the land. The knock-on effects can be disastrous and lasting. The on going instability at Antrim being a case in point.

The resulting calamities are not related to climate change or an act of God: they are brought about by the folly of man.
