Tropical storm Danny was located near latitude 15.8 north and longitude 57.3 west or about 275 miles east of Guadeloupe and moving westward near 15 mph with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph. Danny is expected to be near the Leeward Islands tonight Sunday into Monday morning.
Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected across Dominica tonight into tomorrow, Monday, and residents in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to take the necessary precautions.
Moderate to rough sea conditions are expected during the next 24 to 36 hours with waves peaking near 10.0 feet. A small craft warning is in effect for above normal sea swells and all users of the sea, particularly on the northern and eastern coasts, are advised to exercise extreme caution.
Farmers are asked to tether and or secure animals away from waterways and areas prone to flooding and flash flooding.
Fisher folk are asked to pay close attention to sea conditions and to be in a state of readiness to secure their boats and other property from coastal flooding that may result.
Drivers, motorist and other road users are to exercise extreme vigilance and caution when approaching areas known for flooding and rock falls and landslides.
The ODM and the MET Office will continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Danny throughout the evening into tomorrow and will provide updates as necessary.
