US death toll from new coronavirus passes 100,000

More than 100,000 Americans have died from the new coronavirus. That’s nearly one-third of the worldwide total, according to Business Insider.

The horrific milestone came just over four months after the US’s first case was confirmed, and two months after most states went into lockdown. Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), predicted on May 15 that the US would hit the 100,000-death mark on June 1.

But it happened five days before that.

The 100,000-death mark, according to remarks from President Donald Trump on May 4, was once the worst-case scenario for the US. Now experts expect to see future waves of coronavirus infections bring more deaths.

Hello and good afternoon my people. Well Donald the Clown Trump said “ITS ONLY ONE CASE FROM CHINA THEN ITS ONLY FIFTEEN, SOON IT WILL BE ZERO”. Now he haven’t mention one hundred thousand dead Americans but he continue to blame China like China is responsible for American health policy. It’s a Democratic Hoax that all those racist white peoples that support Donald the clown Trump want to believe. While their family dying in nursing homes. I just shake my head when I hear those clowns speak. Why don’t they drink Clorox as he told them.

Now that China has won the biological warfare with Covid 19. America(USA) on the brink of economic collapse, our good government must look to our good friends China, Russia and Venezuela to fill our hotel rooms and the cruise ships that visit our ports.. our good government must also call on our thousands of Dominican CBI citizens to visit the island at least twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. And spend at least $1,000.00 a day for 21 days to help keep our country afloat since Uncle Sam dying.

    DNO Editors,

This is not a death rate. Death rate is usually expressed as deaths per 1000 of the population (per 100,000 of the population in some cases).
Not even in the article referenced at the bottom of this post is this referred to as a “rate” anywhere on the page.
This is more accurately the absolute number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the US, or the death toll.

ADMIN: Thank you the headline has been changed.

Just for further clarification, in the case of COVID-19, death rates have actually been calculated and expressed in deaths per 1,000,000 (one million) of the population, and according to this article from the Financial Times (see link below), the UK has the highest death rate secondary to COVID-19 in the world (even though the US has the highest death toll).

Link to Financial Times article: https://www.ft.com/content/6b4c784e-c259-4ca4-9a82-648ffde71bf0

A quote from the article linked above: “Other countries like China, Brazil and Russia have suffered large death tolls during the pandemic. However, their mortality rates are far below the UK as the number of deaths is smaller compared with their much larger populations.”

Death rate is also called mortality rate.

If you believe that you will believe anything they dish out. They are tagging just about everyone that dies with the label of covid because the hospitals get 3 times as much money if they say that the person died of covid.

I dont know why people disliked your comment. I know people who died of natural causes and their cause of death was listed as Covid-19. Also the usual drug addicts in a particular city who died of overdose were listed as Covid-19. Hospitals getting paid big time for this, and there is so much more going on but I will hush my mouth.
