UWP presents its 21 candidates for next general election May 19

UWP leader, Lennox Linton

The United Workers Party (UWP) is all set to formally introduce its 21 candidates for the upcoming general election, to Dominica and the rest of the world.

The team will be officially introduced at a special ceremony to be held at the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard on May the 19th.

“On Sunday, 19th May our 21 member team of champions for real change in the governance of the affairs of Dominica, our Isle of Beauty, our Isle of Splendor will be presented to the people of Dominica, to the people of the Caribbean and the rest of the world,” Leader of the UWP Lennox Linton announced during a press conference held at the Prevo Cinemall on Wednesday.

Linton added, “This team was very carefully selected to represent the best alignment of leadership and management resources to the responsibility of national development and we are pleased to introduce the team to you.”

He said the UWP team has been put together to serve on the solid foundation principles of equal opportunity, social justice and balanced, harmonious people-centered development.

“This is a team that will have front and centre, nature island citizen engagement and participation that brings government, people, businesses, civil society groups and neighbourhoods in a collective effort to make Dominica the real authentic, one and only Nature Island of the World,” he stated. “This is a team that will be focused and committed to good transparent accountable government that is about solutions, positive results, fair treatment and just rewards for all.”

Linton went on to say that his team will focus on education, healthcare, sports and entertainment opportunities, affordable land and housing for all.

“A team that will pursue continuous improvement to the livelihoods and standards of living of all the citizens of Dominica,” he said. “A team that will fix its attention on civility, responsible, global citizenship and respect for diversity and unity of purpose in all citizens,” he noted.

Furthermore, he said his party’s election team will ensure that there are disaster prevention and management systems to prevent loss of life, avoid fatal damage to administrative, social and economic systems, “mitigate damage to public and private property and achieve speedy recovery and reconstruction in times of natural disaster.”

“A team that will ensure we continue to have the best water quality…,” Linton said. “A team that will look after the emergence growth of green businesses, green jobs, climate resilience, minimizing our carbon footprints, reducing consumption and eliminating waste.”

He said this team has committed itself to excellence in endeavors at home and abroad.

The vision of the UWP is to make Dominica the best place to live, the best place to work and the best place to enjoy life.

The event is set to begin at 3:00 pm on Sunday May 19.

DNO cannot accept the fact that the UWP leader was expelled from the Dominica Grammar School. He was deported from Antigua. He was fired from a job because he was not smart enough. He paid about $ 1 000 000 because he did not know the difference between May Have and Must Have.He does not know what a carriculum vitae is

You are as mad as a bunch of spring hares but that’s what one gets from a DLP supporter. Have you seen your masters graduation certificate from that university in the states? Nobody has because it is alleged that University does not exist. So contrary to general belief your master has not got 2 bought in certificates but possibly 3.
In fact listening to him that would make sense. He hasn’t got much of a command of the English language but he is an English teacher??? God help those poor pupils.

The only blue wave the people of dominica should be concerned about is the incites of violence after this (Guy) is defeated again at the next general elections. People mark my words. Lennox is a loser. Lennox is killing the party. When a man is desperate for something and cant get it because of his own destructive nature all he will continue to do is incites violence after he is defeated. He will use exuses like bribe for votes, handouts, favor in housing, lack of electoral reform and his list will go on and on. This is the same electoral system which placed PJ, Dame E Charles, Mike, Rossie, P Charles and EJ as prime minister. Lennox need to step down so UWP has a chance to win in 2025.

Since when our election was about who get house and who get money? The state of Dominica today reminds me of when I was a you boy growing up and we use to play “Who get” cricket. The batsman was never sure who was going to bowl because it was who got the ball became the bowler. Can’t believe that’s where Skerrit brought Da and people there playing pussycat politics. St Maarten, Tortola, the USVI Babuda and Dominica were all destroyed by hurricane. Yes we were worse off, all because of the bad policies of Skerrit and the DLP. Maria did not destroy Ross University. It was Skerrit that destroyed Ross University and for the life of me I cannot believe anyone from Portsmouth still supporting Skerrit. I mean to see how he has covered Portsmouth with unskilled and uneducated Haitians that are twice as poor as the locals , nobody knows their health record at a time when our health care is at it’s worse is a national disgrace and crime man. Im not trying to bash on Haitians but we can’t…

Well Roseau dacalay on May 19th. One of two things will happen:
1 Earthquake in Roseau, because of the large number of persons on the boulevard.
2: Tsunami, because of the blue wave that coming to town.
I not missing that for nothing.

@Lennox linspoon, I’ve got a question for you. Dominicans has been in a much better place or position ever since Labour Party and Dr Skerrit kicked your so-called Workers useless party out in the wilderness. Now we can afford to pay back loans eat at the best restaurants Dominica has to offer, at home one has a better choice like Beef, Pork, chicken and fish or cod fish 🐠 and you asking us here in Dominica to vote ❎ for you a puppet party that was selling one banana 🍌 for a dollar at that time and again one of your lot did the same after the last horricane, Lennox linspoon, you have not said anything sensible enough to convince myself or any other intelligent person you are the man to take the superior Pm Dr Skerrit, and his Administration out of office :score 4-0 to Labour, Lennox you can fool your backwards followers but never the best majority of Dominicans 🇩🇲 One love 😍

I see a lot of pretty words, as expected, because Linton speaks very well. What I want to know is how the party proposes to fulfill all these promises. What financial or economics plans are in place to achieve these goals? It is easy to present promises but I want a solid plan which tells me how we are going to finance those venture..how will the money come in? Are we continuing the CBI? If the plan is to provide more jobs, how are we financing the facilities to provide the jobs? I guess all the information on that will come at a later date??

There is a difference between talk and action. some men will say anything to fool you and get what they want. The old saying come to mind “If you love me show me”. The uwp leader claim the he was “an investigative reporter”. So what has he done to deserve this citation. Nothing. He has been a member of the House for almost five years what has he done to show that he understands its procedures, nothing.
Re Maria wht did he do to help, nothing but talk after the danger passed. He is just a talking head full of blue bubbles.
Like the song says ” the taste ofthe pudding is the eating” Not the talking. What is tract record….Talking.

Again, please please please dont dirty our roadsides and bridges like how DLP has. its tacky, ugly and makes the place look even worse than it already is. That is all i ask of the UWP in their campaigns. Flags and strips of cloths and all the paraphernalia that gets left in the respective communities does not win elections. We know that for a fact now. Save your money and do good in your respective communities instead of wasting it on those things. you see Isaac build a stairway for those people in Ravine Corq to try and win them over? Little things like that to do instead of wasting money on mahjee. they will have more impact long after the election whether you win or lose, and the people will remember you.

Thank you very much Hon Linton and your reputable Team UWP. We welcome this event and look forward to hearing from you and the decent plans that you and your UWP Team have for our Domininca, that with our help, our Dominica will be elevated to a level of decency, transparency and good governance, unlike the failure and on going Bobol, corruption executed by this false, failed Corrupt Labour Government. Skerrit has been this failure, dangerous to Domininca and Dominicans so is his immature, corrupt Labour government. Domininca needs change now and we need this failed Labour government and its failed Prime Minister Skerrit and his worthless 19 ministers, out of government as soon as possible. This Odd minister and failed Corrupt labour government have been a waste of tie in government, we need them out ASAP. We have had enough of Skerrit and his failed useless Bobol Labour government. Skerrit must Go, Get Lost ASAP.
Dominicans we are going to be waking up soon with Skerrit Gone. DLP…

    May 9, 2019

If elections we’re called today here is what “The voice of the people” poll say would happen:
    UWP:
Wesley, Marigot, Salybia, Castle Bruce, Grand Fond, Laplaine, Roseau Valley, Roseau South, Roseau Central, Roseau North, Mahault, St. Joseph and Salsbury.
    DLP:
Paix Bouche, Portsmouth, Colihault and Grandbay.
    Too close to call:
Vielle Case, Cottage, Soufriere and Pettite Savanne.
This true poll is not affiliated with any political party and it is based on what voters are telling me. I am sure this poll is similar to what Peter Wickham or Alex Bruno or any pollsters would say. Sadly though, based on the above information I don’t believe there will be an election

  11. Clemo we voting
    May 8, 2019

It’s a great team and I cannot wait to come see my new incoming Parlrep “Clemo” aka Junior. I voted Skerrit for 15 years straight in the V/case constituency and honestly speaking we got poorer than anytime in our history. Yes, Skerrit fixed roads, build some houses and gave people money. But he owes us far more than what he gave us because we in Penville voted him in large numbers to the point that if all voters from V/ Case and Thibaud voted for UWP, Skerrit would still win with Penville votes. He had nothing when he became Parlrep but today he owns everything in DA, while we lose everything. We had our large farms and banana fields and today we have NADA! Those that were regarded as rich became poor and those poor got poorer. He did nothing to give our children a future. My first child was 4 years when Skerrit became Parlrep and today he is 23 and cannot get a job though he left college with good grades. All that is there for him is NEP. Man we need a change and Junior all the way

“will be presented to the people of Dominica, to the people of the Caribbean and the rest of the world,” News Article

Mr. Linton Sir, it is very clear that you are into nothing but seeking “attention” and “popularity” at the cost of the votes of us, Dominicans; but if I were I would seek for that fame someplace else–maybe even at home with your family.

All of that smooth writing and exemplification of Dominica’s beauty, along with the rest of your fantasy, here, will not qualify you to be the man whom you desire to be–which is the Prime Minister of Dominica–you just cannot fit in that post, and you won’t be for a long, long time.

So you are here talking about your have chosen “political team”; along with those vague promises you have spoken here, what do the Caribean and the rest of the World have to do with that?

Sir, you are not impressing no one; no matter how great your speeches, Dominicans need much more than great sermons

      • May 9, 2019

        RandyX May 9, 2019

What I haven’t don’t before, is to say thank you that you have acknowledged the fact that I am a Christian

Now to answer your question, let me tell you that your choice in Life is not mine; what you accept as being good, is not what I have accepted for myself.

And yes indeed, as a very mature Christian, in a relationship of the Spirit with Christ Jesus, I rely on Him to show me the difference and I make my choices by His guidance. How do you make yours?

Now you go ahead and judge me, just as you have judged others, I hope you know from whom the final judgment will come; and you are prepared for your verdict–which I am sure that you will not be able to handle.

I have been a laborite all of my life but this time I voting for Dominica. I gave PM enough time to deliver and is worse we getting. I mean take a good deep look at where DA is today and somebody in their right mind please give me at least two valid reasons why we should give Skerrit another 5 year term. I mean what is PM running on? When he came in office he met a strong enough Banana Industry that created employment for at least 2000 people. Where is it today? DEAD! He met Bello. Where is today? He met Brizees mart. Where is it today? He met a vibrant tourism industry; where is it today. He met a strong Ross University. Where is Ross today? We talking about businesses that kept many people employed, more than 5000 for sure and he killed all of them and many more. He shipped our jobs to Barbados. In fact PM has helped create more jobs and an income to Bajans than for us that voting him. It’s time to stop this man. We use to ship fruits and food to Bdos and now is jobs we shipping

    • June 19, 2019

We really need factories so our produce can be sold and create jobs ,not people going to PM office to beg every month.I place DA in the hands of God.

  19. Not Me Alone
    May 8, 2019

Before I respond to this article, I need to clear my conscience and apologize to Dominica for putting my country in the mess that it is in today. I have been a freedomite all my life but somehow, my late friend Rosie convinced me in 1999, to put party aside to help put the then UWP administration out because they corrupt and since I hated UWP for putting DFP out and he gave me every reason to convince me they corrupt, I paid my passage to vote DLP, just to vote them out. But my sin backfired as less than 9 months later Rosie died and 3 years later, Pierro his deputy himself died. But I still came down in 2005 to vote for Skerrit, thinking he would help DA. But Alas I was so wrong and my vote backfired again only to see Skerrit brought DA at least 40 years behind and destroyed our once proud reputation all over, whether in the US, EU, Canada, France, now Gudeloupe and Martinique. People PLEASE FORGIVE ME and show me you forgive me by voting Skerrit out in all 21 constituencies!

They have failed us under the weird failed leadership of failed inept, immature Skerrit. over 19 years these clowns, They have killed our industry, our nation and we need answers to gain back our reputation and states resources abused by this corrupt lead PM. Maybe I will never get to read this but I will say that Dominica needs change, I remembered when DLP said UWP (leader Hon.Edison James ) they were corrupt and they went all out to get them out of powers but up to this date they could not tell us where was the corruptions, and foolishly we voted them out and put them in, and I will say at the begin of DLP they started off good but over the years the DLP became a party of one man Skerritt, when last have you heard each individual minister tell us what is going on with there roll Sherritt is the only one speaking on every topic but we have all ministers doing what? Change is a must. Government changes all the time it wouldn’t be the first I say give this Team UWP a chance if they can’t handle the duties we vote them out that’s how democracy y works, it’s not a one man show it’s all about the country first it’s a team job. DLP is out of Visions Airport and Hospitals are still in the sky and that’s joke, Dominicans put country…

I know that crowd size is not everything … it’s what happen in the voting booth that matters. Still, if a party cannot attract people to it’s event, it is highly unlikely that they will attract them to cast a vote their way.

The country needs healing. Too many people have been emotionally and mentally bruised by the entrenched divisive politics practised by the incumbent administration. Too many citizens have been left out; we need politics of inclusion not exclusion as is now enforced. The people need to experience a dawn of a new day where they can coexist closely together despite their political, economic and other differences. We must end the antiquated style of politics of victimization, favoritism, corruption and opaqueness and replace it with politics of meritocracy, unity, goodwill and love.

Dynamic as they may seem to you, they might not be so to God and His plan for Dominica. Especially that He doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies those whom He calls.

I don’t know how long it will take Him to do that training, but better yet if He is satisfied with the ONE He has already qualified–no man can remove that ONE except Him and Him alone.
