Venezuela breaks relations with US; gives American diplomats 72 hours to leave country

Maduro gave US diplomats 72 hours to leave the country

Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaido, declared himself interim president on Wednesday, winning over the backing of the Washington and many Latin American nations and prompting socialist, Nicolas Maduro, to break relations with the United States, MSNC has reported.

Speaking to supporters outside the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas, socialist leader Maduro said he would give U.S. diplomatic personnel 72 hours to leave Venezuela, which is suffering from a hyperinflationary economic collapse.

U.S. President Donald Trump formally recognized Guaido shortly after his announcement and praised his plan to hold elections. That was swiftly followed by similar statements from Canada and a slew of right-leaning Latin American governments, including Venezuela’s neighbors Brazil and Colombia.

“Hello and good afternoon my people. America is looking for an excuse to invade Venezuela and cause brothers to fight brothers .  ”

Tony, America do not have to look for an excuse to invade Venezuela; the fact that the dictator ordered the American Ambassador, and subordinates out of Venezuela, and the ambassador told him they are not leaving means the government of the dictator has already fallen!

If a government told a foreign government embassy to vacate; leave their country, and that foreign power defies the dictator means the dictator has become irrelevant  in his own country!

The United States has the support, and backing of Canada: The oppression by a dictator perpetrated on the people of a country can only last for a period of time. This is the end of communism, and dictatorship in Venezuela!

I wish the United States, and Canada would turn their attention to Dominica in order to root out the corrupted evil vindictive oppressive man Roosevelt out, bring him to…

Hello and good afternoon my people. America is looking for an excuse to invade Venezuela and cause brothers to fight brothers . The opposition didn’t contest the election so how can Guaido claim that he’s the president . We now know that the Russians helped Trump win the presidency so if Hillary Clinton come out and say she is the president of America what would Trump say.

      January 24, 2019

It is a good thing that Hillary didn’t win or we would be involved in WW III right now. The US and Russia work closely on a number of projects. Each country is involved in the politics of the other. This is nothing new.

You obviously don’t understand the situation:
Maduro was elected cause the opposition had boycotted it ; reason is that the opposition was not allowed to choose its own candidates du to Maduro’s ban.
At the contrary, Guaido is the president of the House, where the opposition has a majority.
And MP’s were duely elected by the citizens
The only legitime State Representent therefore, is the leader of the opposition and, in a democarcy, He would be Head of State

Hello and good afternoon my people. The fact remains that Mr Guaido didn’t run for the position of president of Venezuela therefore he can’t claim to be the president. Maduro need to send the police and arrest this guy for causing instability in Venezuela and getting help from America to undermine their election. Mr Guaido was told that he couldn’t run for two positions but he choose to disregard the law.

John Bolton the Vietnam war dodger and chicken hawk war monger is Trumps National Security advisor, he was the main advocate for the invasion of Iraq. That says a lot right there. He has been a war hawk in every administration he has been in including under Reagan. He would love to see a war in Venezuela and is already making threats, he does not believe in a peaceful resolution to any political situation. The man is dangerous to any society. He is dizzy with the thought of violence as long as he is not in harms way as most cowards do. When other American young men were fighting and dying in Vietnam he said he did not feel like dying in the rice paddies in Vietnam for a lost cause so he did everything in his power to get out of serving there and so joined the national guard enhancing his chances of not being sent to Vietnam and staying stateside. Back then he was a coward and now too old to serve in combat he is quick to send other peoples children.

      @Penny
The US offers good educational opportunities for young, ambitious, legal migrants. There are also job opportunities for many to elevate themselves socially and economically. The problem that most critics have with the US is their hypocritical and misguided foreign policies. Don’t conflate the two. They have very close diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia, close trading ties with China but a trade embargo on Cuba. China and Saudi Arabia are pariah countries in terms of human rights abuses. People chastise America for its systemic racism, police brutality against young black men, lack of opportunities for people of color in the top positions of the private sector. Many of the criticisms leveled against the US can be certainly justified.

The majority of Venezuelans don’t even know Juan Guido but this man is the self appointed president of Venezuela. Imagine that! If this is allowed to happen, it only sets a dangerous precedent for any popular rogue individual to declare himself /herself president. Only tumult and civil war can emerge from such a misguided power grab.

Take a look at this video. You literally have no idea what you’re talking about. Hundreds of thousands of people out in the streets after he (the guy you say that majority of Venezuelans don’t know) called for a protest action. I have seen several videos and talked to many people. This guy is more talked about now than even Maduro.

If civil war has to break out to end this absolute disgrace that Chavez and his successor has wrought on this country then so be it. It will not be the first time. Look up the significance of 23rd of January in Venezuelan history and learn something

      • Ibo France
        January 24, 2019

In 2017, the population of Venezuela was 31.98 million people. The hundreds of thousands of demonstrators on the streets are just a tiny percentage of the entire population. The many people you talked about is miniscule to the size of the population. My information about the opposition leader comes from a reputable, unbiased reporter on the ground in Venezuela. There weren’t one million demonstrators on the streets in a population of approximately thirty two (32) million people. This is less than 3% of the whole population. I do my homework before I put bogus information in the public domain. I hope you, “Sense out of nonsense”, now that you are armed with the requisite information, is in a better position, to fully appreciate my argument. Facts are really stubborn things. I always try to buttress my arguments with certitude at my side.

      • Sense out of nonsense
        January 25, 2019

I’ll reiterate. You have literally no idea what you’re talking about. You get your information from a “reputable source”. I get mine directly from the hundreds of people I have gotten to know living in Venezuela for many years. Now consider the following:

        1. Millions of people have already left Venezuela (at least 3 million) so you have to update your statistics.

        2. That 31 million includes children babies eldlerly etc. A better statistic would be to use the the voting numbers for the national assembly election in 2015 (where the opposition won a super majority BTW) That number is approx 14.3 million.

        3. Not everyone is going to go out to protest because many are still afraid of being killed or hurt by the armed forces or paramillitary (at least 14 people have been killed already) or are just apathetic due to how dire the situation is. In light of all that it is crazy that there was that big a turn out

So maybe you need to check your facts they might just be…

Venezuela has a vast reserve of crude oil which the Americans are very keen on seizing and shipping back to America for refining. The rich guys in America are already rubbing their hands at the prospect of getting their hands on the venezuelians oil. It is only little people in insignificant little countries like ours that want to believe that what the Americans want to do in Venezuela is in the interest of the venezuelian people. Perfect examples are Iraq, Libya and Syria. I hope the Russians and the Chinese stop Trump in his Tracks.

      • Sense out of nonsense
        January 24, 2019

Crude oil that is so hard to refine that it is barely profitable. riight. The US is already buying oil from Venezuela. You people are so ignorant it’s not even funny. Venezuelans are fleeing their country and they already have, and will in much larger numbers, make their way to the US if the situation is not resolved. The US is interested in keeping the south and central american region as stable as possible because if they fail then they have to deal with more refugees.

Also Venezuela being a failed state is a security risk for the US and the entire american continent. Terrorists are making their way through Venezuela, getting government issued ID by paying off officials and then using that to make their way through central america and up to the US.

Add to that the fact that Venezuela is now almost a free zone for the drug trade. Why would the US not want to fix this situation? If it keeps getting worse their own country will be threatened

      • UKDominican
        January 24, 2019

I think you should look at the facts before making such statements. CITGO, the U.S. refiner and distributor of oil products an natural gas in the U.S.A. for example, who’s gasoline stations are a common sight along American highways is owned by Venezuela’s state corporation PDVSA. Furthermore, Venezuela has a chronic shortage of refining capacity at home and are heavily dependent on U.S.A. refiners. Mr. Maduro needs the U.S.A. more than the other way round, especially for the supply of U.S. currency as do China and Russia. Russia will be sable rattling but not engage in a full scale war to save Maduro’s bacon and will do everything in its power not to cut their recently acquired energy assets in Venezuela off from a lucrative U.S. market. Ideology is one thing but it is profitable business that pays the bills.

%, the US is not a bastion of democracy. Every time America invades a country, it is for selfish motives. When a powerful countries uses its might to bring about regime change, things usually exacerbate. Recent glaring examples are Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia commits the most heinous atrocities against its own people. It has one of the worst human rights record on earth. Yet, the US and Saudi Arabia have the strongest diplomatic relationship. How do you reconcile that with their threat to invade Venezuela? I’m no supporter of President Madera but military intervention in a country to change the leadership sets a dangerous precedent. Even may staunch, bona fide, Venezuelan opponents reject the idea of an US invasion of their country. If the US was genuine about upholding democracy around the world they would have cut all diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia. Don’t have a closed mind on this issue. An American invasion is bad for our hemisphere.

% Penny, Open your eyes and see what is happening in America itself today Trump is using Venezuela to distract his problems from the American people, The man is an absolute idiot if he doesn’t gets his own way he would throw his dolly out of the pushchair and started crying.

        January 25, 2019

So Trump threw an entire country into decadence and chaos (before he got elected) so that many years later when the political climate reaches a climax on a day that is only of political and historical significance to Venezuela (23rd January) he could get millions of people to go out and protest to take people’s minds of what’s happening in the US.

Brah if that was really Trump’s doing the man is not only a genius he is pretty much a god because that means he can see into the future.
