Dominica News Online shares this video of two of the three relatives charged with the murder of Harrison Williams aka 17 Sweat. They are seen smiling and waving to persons in and outside the court room.
The persons in the video are Manuela Williams and Loretta Xavier. They along with Herbert Xavier (not in video) are accused of beating their 40-year-old brother to death at about 9 pm last Friday in Soufriere, in the presence of the deceased’s wife and children.
The trio appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, where the charge was read to them. The trio was not required to plea because the charge is indictable. They were remanded in custody.

I am in such a State a shock. I had to replay this video a few times to grasp what i’m seeing. I dont think they should be killed, that would be way too easy for them. Lock them up and throw away the keys, let them sit in prison and think about what they’ve done, maybe then we’ll see who’s laughing now. I can understand how you are feeling, however these ladies are not dogs. They are human beings like each and everyone of us. We donot really know what came over them . Remember Satan the devil is always busy and roaming about. All we can do is to pray for them.
The children, wife and parents needs our prayers to help them in their sufferings. Believe you me this is something that they will never ever forget. We have also been a victim of the very same circumstances many years ago. Our poor mother never ever recovered. Lets us all offer prayers to the family including the person or persons who carried out the act.
From the day I found out that those people had the same last name as I do, I have been feeling ashamed, even if they are strangers to my family who is from a different village. That’s not fair, a jury should be made up of law students and/or lawyers who have legal knowledge of examining evidence from both points of views. Lay jurists may make decisions based on emotions mixed with facts or some already have preconceived notions. In an islamic court, only legal experts examine evidence then the judge evaluates based on all the evidences provided. What can be fairer than that? Think they could smile like that in Iran or Saudi Arabia? Our people need to inquire about islam. It is the only complete way of life that will curb these murders in a society. When the people of Dominica have seen that all else has failed them, many will turn to Islam in sha Allah (God’s willing)

Wow, I know that one is innocent until proven guilty, but I am shocked to see the smiles on these people faces. Do they think it’s a joke? What happened to “love your neighbor as yourself”, much less for your family? I hope when reality stikes in, their reactions will be different.
