“We are back”- PM Skerrit says

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that the staging of the 22nd Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) is a clear message to the world that “we are back.”

He made the announcement while speaking to the media at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium on Monday morning.

“Clearly we are coming out of a hurricane, the pandemic for about three years and we wanted to send a clear message not only to our citizens here in Dominica, but the international community, the Caribbean of our commitment to the creole culture, our commitment to the festival and to indicate to the world we are back and we are back in a big way,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister, this is not a Dominican festival,  “really, it’s truly the World Creole Music Festival.”

“It now belongs to the world and so we are very grateful for this and we want to send a very clear message that we are serious about the creole music festival and we have invested tremendously in this festival,” he stated.

He continued, “We have taken it to a level that we don’t intend to go down from, so next year we are going to be even bigger so get ready from 2023.”

African Giant, ‘.Burna Boy’ who was set to perform on Saturday night was unable to do so due to unforeseen circumstances. This left hundreds of fans who came to see him disappointed.

Patrice Roberts brought the curtains down with what was described as a spectacular performance.

Skerrit thanked the Caribbean brothers and sisters from Jamaica, the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Suriname, Canada, Europe, and the USA to name a few, who have turned out in large numbers to support the WCMF this year.

The three nights of ‘pulsating rhythms’ took place from October 28 to 30.

They continue to bemoan how they are suffering in Dominica under a repressive regime yet they eat, dress, fete and generally live better than their relatives and friends in “more developed” countries where they toil on overnight shifts for next to minimum wages while scarecly being able to save a penny.

They frown and scoff at the content of the barrels of goods which require a good amount of financial sacrifice to be shipped from far away lands, often lamenting the absence of designner items when the senders only wear knock off brands thenselves.

Oh by the way, did you see them swaying in the rain with their expensive outfits and iphones in hand at the WCMF? That is not a desperate and suffering people. What they are is an ungrateful and wicked multitude.

All those voters who backed Skerrit in the the recent elections now claiming shock of his shortcomings are jokers, a man whose sole qualification for the post appeared to be “looks a bit like a male model with his dimples”.

Dominicans are a strange breed, they totally ignore the shortcomings of their CM, a man whose sole qualification for the post appeared to be “looks a bit like a male model with his dimples”. To top it all, he robbed them blind but they still love DIMPLES. This is utterly unique!

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit did not mince his words to say that Nigerian Afrobeat star Burna Boy breached his contract after failing to appear on Saturday night for the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

Burna boy failed to arrive in Dominica as per his contract to perform for thousands who braved the inclement weather that evening.

Skerrit told media on Sunday night at Windsor Park Stadium that what transpired on Saturday had nothing to do with the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) or anyone in Dominica.

“Our airport was open, there was no bad weather, and all our staff was in place, so this has absolutely nothing to do with the World Creole Music Festivals organizers and the government and people of Dominica.
So, the whole episode can be read in the Trinidad Express!

      Cont:

Yes, Roosevelt you are really back; however, in backwardness, this man was supposed to have traveled from Africa, on an international flight, there are no International Airports in Dominica to accommodate such flights, he should sue you for getting bumped off somewhere between Africa and some other Caribbean Island where there are no connecting flights on a commuter aircraft to Dominica.
      “Our airport was open?”
Then Roosevelt contends Gaston Brown would have kept V. C. Bird International airport open to accommodate Roosevelt and his crap, because this god Roosevelt had an entertainer flying through to his mess in Dominica.
If Gaston agreed with that Dominica clown on that, he once again made a fool out of Roosevelt, because he knows to allow an International Airport to remain open without collecting a substantial amount of revenue, cost perhaps millions, that would not be in the interest of the government and people of Antigua!
Once again Roosevelt you were fooled!

We are back to what? The creole cultural backbone of the country is now relegated to 45 minutes in the main cultural festival in the country and now foreign music and artists are given the humongous share of the festival and we are back!? back to what? The same way that the policies of the current Labour Party allowed agriculture to decline before now talking about trying to resuscitate it is the same way that culture will be treated. It pains me that the double doctorate dude chooses to allow good things about Dominca to disintegrate so he can claim his brilliance in trying to resuscitate them. This statement is nothing but lipstick on a pig. Dominca I’m sorry.

Politics affects every aspect of life not only in Dominica but in every country. Jobs, our national and financial security, healthcare system, quality of our living standard, environment, education, peacefulness of the country, social services, the roads and bridges we drive and walk on, our working conditions, sporting facilities or lack thereof, our lifespan, I literally mean every thing.

So when one says every thing is politics sarcastically, that person is right and doesn’t even realise he is right.

All he is spewing are all garbage!
How can Roosevelt send a message to the world that because he provided all the tickets to his supporters to attend a show, that means Dominica is back!
    Back from where or what?
So, I reside in the State of California, and although I don’t know many other Dominicans residents here, I never once heard a single American born mention the name Dominica and going there specifically because of Creole Festival.
Roosevelt, I know you are delusional, believing your very own lies, you need to find a way to step out of the corrupted universe you created for you and your dunce wife, and return to the natural world around you.
Look carefully, you might your lies, and the damage they have done to the life’s of the majority of our people and country.
Dominica isn’t back from anywhere, it’s the same old thing, the spewing of your political propaganda while Dominica linger in poverty, whereas you cannot account for billions of dollars.

Roosevelt thinks that the FreeTime Festival is the panacea of Dominica’s multiplicity of problems. He has never once failed to amuse me with his superficial thoughts and asinine statements.

This is a hoarder who has extinguished the dreams of the young, reduced the adult population to beggars, while feathering his nest. He and his uncultured, unschooled wife have saddled the poor tax payers with monthly rent and salaries of approximately $84K.

P.S. DNO, Roosevelt promised to relieve the tax payers of this financial monthly burden by exiting the palatial mansion. Can you please remind the country of the date? Isn’t it this month?

Dominica is back? How can Dominica be back when MURDERS are at their highest count? UNEMPLOYMENT is at its highest level. POVERTY is exploding like a nuclear bomb. The DEATH RATE is alarmingly mind-boggling.

The country will be back when PEACE and TRANQUILITY reigns again. When AGRICULTURE reclaims its prominent position. When the resident DOMINICAN doesn’t have to beg to survive. When the ECONOMY is raised from its comatose state. When rampant government CORRUPTION is lowered to negligible levels.

Finally, Dominica will be back when the scandal-scarred tenure of this current maladministration is permanently ended.

Haven’t you heard that some people whom they gave free tickets to go and make belief that they were paid participants were in the streets begging people to buy the tickets so that they can get some food to eat?
If you saw Dominicans from overseas return for that show, ask who paid for their flight tickets home, especially the ones who got there the day prior to the party, and left the day after the party.
Clown, there are more hungry people in Dominica than any island in the Caribbean with the exception of Haiti!
Clown, mouth talk doesn’t change a very bad situation such as poverty, unemployment thievery, murder and every imaginary crime in the country simply because of Roosevelt lies, about Dominica is back.

You ds, are the one in wonderland with Roosevelt, and not in any limelight; nevertheless in lies and lime darkness!
ds, here is how deep Roosevelt is in darkness: I doubt that Gaston can simply order the Antigua Airport manager to keep it open simple to accommodate Roosevelt.

Roosevelt is everything in Dominica, that’s not how it is in Antigua. It cost thousands of dollars per hour to keep an International Airport open.

Landing lights burns plenty of current, then fire trucks and fire fighters must be on duty too, there is plenty of money involved to keep it open waiting on a single flight.
The airport manager has the power to decide when the airport remains open or close in Antigua, not Gaston Brown, and that’s how it works!

There are not many political puppets in Antigua, as we have in Dominica.

I agree. It’s called World CREOLE Music Festival. Burna Boy is Nigerian…what the f**k does he have to do with Creole culture? Where’s all the cadence-lypso, zouk etc singers/bands? The festival is supposed to be celebrating OUR culture, not others. And the sad thing is the West Indian artists don’t even get paid 1% of what Burna Boy got paid. We’re supposed to be supporting OUR OWN people, not outsiders. It went from the ‘Creole Festival’ to the ‘Skerrit Show’ unfortunately.
