WE GOT THIS: Tasha P, Devine Songz feature in Caribbean music video on Covid-19

“The response has been absolutely phenomenal. We could not have hoped for better. From prime ministers to strangers living miles and miles away, the love has been real!” Barbadian songwriter, Cheyne Jones, exclaims.

Jones is the lyricist behind a newly-released music video which features a number of top Caribbean artists including Tasha P and Devine Songz from Dominica. Along with Ian Webster, he is part of Water Street Boyz who composed the song. The two have been working together since 2014.

Jones says they wrote the song out of “a sense of duty, almost.” and asks, “as writers and social commentators, through music, how could we not create a piece like this during this pandemic?”

With “so many beautiful islands with so much fantastic talent!” he said the process of selecting artists for the project was challenging but the majority of people who were contacted readily accepted and freely gave of their time.

“We are very blessed to have worked with international artists and various soca and calypso monarchs,” Jones stated.

About the production process, Jones said, “Luckily, I didn’t have to do any technical work but it was tedious for the producer and Ian [Webster] who did vocal editing, going back and forth with the audio of the singers, (some had to record on their phones!)”

I’m still trying to understand this song in light of what we are facing with a deadly plague. It should be a time to pray and seek God’s mercy. No. But instead we people globally are taking this calamity to record and rejoice as though this virus is glorious. I’m not an alarmist, but the few more remaining plagues will have much greater chaotic impact, that men will run to the mountains to seek shelter but shall find no hiding place. Bible predictions must be fulfilled. My Savior Jesus Christ says, “Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away”. So, to the folks who think that, “they’ve got this” better think again. Because there’s more to come. According to the Bible, this is the beginning of sorrows. Think about pestilences like mosquitoes, bats, ants, and all flying creatures invading a country by countless numbers stinging and killing and causing great pain!!!! Hospitals will be useless. Only God got this. Find shelter in Him. HE GOT THIS.
