Tropical Storm Fiona has entered the Caribbean Sea and the Tropical Storm Watch for Dominica was discontinued at 5am. However, the system will continue to affect the region today. As a result, cloudy to overcast skies with showers which could be moderate to heavy at times, periods of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected. Lingering weak instability will persist into Sunday.
A FLOOD WATCH is in effect until noon today. People in areas prone to floods, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be on alert and to take the necessary precautions to protect life and property.
Moderate to rough seas are anticipated today with wave heights decreasing to 7.0ft by this evening on the eastern coast. Waves near 8.0ft are likely to impact the western through northern coastline during the morning. A Small Craft Warning remains in effect for above normal seas. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water. People living near to or traversing coastal areas are also advised to exercise caution.
