The river in La Ronde on the eastern coast of Dominica on Saturday morning

A Flood Warning has been issued for Dominica by the Met Office as unstable weather continues to affect the island.

The warning will remain in effect until 6:00 pm on Saturday.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is already occurring or will occur during the warning period.

The Met Office said reports indicate that sections of the island are already experiencing rising waters and silted and or blocked water-ways are likely to promote flooding and landslides.

This, as unstable conditions reinforced by moisture convergence have been generating light to moderate and isolated heavy showers across Dominica since Friday evening.

Radar imagery indicated that pockets of heavy showers affected mainly the southern portion of Dominica throughout Friday night into Saturday morning.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers which could be heavy at times and possible isolated thunderstorms to continue to affect Dominica throughout today and Sunday. Rainfall projection is for amounts of up to 2 inches and higher amounts in elevated areas. Flash flooding is therefore, possible.

Persons in communities that are prone to flooding, landslide and falling rocks, should be very vigilant and take all precautionary measures to protect life and property. Be ready to move to higher ground. Motorists and pedestrians should not attempt to cross flooded roadways.

This warning may be further extended should conditions become necessary.

I believe I read where someone stated that road is the main Road, I wonder if that is the main road in a village, and if so; are there no vehicular traffic in that village?

If it is a main road in a village it is not even wide enough to accommodate pedestrians walking pass each other! I have walked on many tracks design for exercising purpose only, and they are all twice as wide; however no vehicular terrific are allowed!

anywhere can flood but look at the main road in that picture, look at the roads we have in 2016. those people always saying they wise because they come from de east, but all i see same people that let handouts fool them like the rest of those dominicans that have no ethic, pride and dignity in the people we elect….

that not even looking like a road, looks like a foot path with asphalt.

They buy the so called disaster specialist to their side so expect miracles from the disaster office. It’s amazing how some of us can be bought so easily, a man who constantly criticized the government disAster policy on Q95 hot seat and on freedom voice now finds favour with the cabal as their disAster advisor. Let’s wait to see the other boys among men that will show their true colours once the price is right. Time will tell. In the interim Let’s take stock of our preparedness in spite of the acrobatic moves by the gov’t and their specialist for at the end of the day we are responsible for our own safety and security.

we must be very careful what we ask for because some people just asking for bad things to happen and wishing bad for the country so don’t be surprised the place is flooded. WE must pray for the good not asking for the bad. We must live in unity with each other hatred, greed and jealousy is killing the place.

It appears the hot weather came earlier. In Dominica, it is the hotter weather.
We, in Toronto are experiencing a heat wave rather early. We are enjoying it from the wintry months although we did not have a bad winter. The weather has been fluctuating. It is stated we will have as hot a summer as we did in 2012. This means humidity. God help us.
The weather forecast since Thursday was rain but it did not fall. I did feel a slight single spot of rain but it never rained. It was supposed to rain today Saturday; no rain yet. It will come.
Canadians always find something to talk about to strangers. One of them is the weather. Today, someone told me her air conditioner broke down. Her son said with the hot weather come power outage. We know this too well. This week, there were power outages in two different areas.
All the same I hope Dominica will not be badly affected by floods and this hurricane season. Pray that God will spare the country.

Facts, do you go to bed at night, and when you step out of bed in the morning; you stretch sigh, and say “let me see how much nonsensical garbage I can post on DNO today?”

What does hot weather in Canada have to do with torrential rain fall in Dominica, and flooding. That is expected in Dominica at this time of the year, soon we can expect the worst since the hurricane season is about to dawn on us.

In that case your unexpected hot weather in Canada is causing all of the flooding in places in Texas, and in the Mid-west including the tornados wreaking havoc, destroying everything in their path for many mills in length and width.

Have you ever thought that based on the amount of disapproval according to the thumbs down you get the reading audience regards you as a waste of time?

Stop talking about Linton. And face the fact that your government with so many advisors is yet to finish the destruction caused by Erika although they have reported great sale in passport money. It is almost a year now and the waten waven bridge is yet to complete including many others yet they have money to campaign in by elections. Is this right? And here they are changing laws to suit them every time they are begin confronted about issues of concern to the citizens of Dominica. Time will tell. Everyday is a day closer to their demise

SO ,,,Nine months after ERICA the silt and rocks are still blocking the rivers, ravines and drains.
DO WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT THAT HAS RECEIVED MILLIONS FROM THE OUTSIDE FRIENDS TO RECTIFY THE DAMAGE AND YET THE FURST HEAVY RAINS WE ARE BACK TO FLOODING…….NO HOPE FOR DOMINICA

    May 28, 2016

Flood warning – no one cares. The citizens have no problem with the current state of country just a few days away from the start of the hurricane season and neither does the gov’t. The only focus now is the constituency of Soufriere where millions of taxpayers dollars are being handed out for votes, while the rest of the country is left to perish. Dominicans, shame on you.

  17. Noah's Flood
    May 28, 2016

The flood of Noah came about because of evil and corruption as seen in the verse below:

Gen. 6:12: “And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.”

Boy we could just insert Dominica, in the place of earth below because Dominica has gotten exceedingly corrupt and the sad thing is, pastors, priests, bishops, evangelists lead the corrupt sector so I don’t know what to expect from floods this year. I pray for mercy and hope for the best for Dominica.

But they could cancel the flood warning because we will be safe. Floods and destruction usually come when king Skerrit is out with his friends in Macau, and they all have a different address in NY these days and besides that, Skerrit cannot go out before the by-election because he has to reside in the Soufriere constituency 24/7, playing dominoes, making a drink and continue to try to buy voters. So no storm now; storms only com when he is away so he could be…

As it was in the beginning so shall it be at the end. Many will blame it on climate change, some will believe I am not one for sure. When some people forget God and sell their souls to satan for worldly possessions, involve in all sorts of demonic activities evil etc, what do we expect to happen in our country. Pastors sell their souls to satan, priest in church throwing words preaching politics, Bishop priests, pastors, evangelist forget what they said they were called to do and is part and parcel of wrongdoing, condoning evil, corruption, thefts, poverty, rape, etc thinking they fooling God what do we expect, satan and evil is ruling
and is in control, so sin and evil is what we have in dominica today, coverimg/taking over the land and sea. Dominica need prayer more than ever, more today than yesterday, dominica need cleansing from the Almighty, dominica need deliberance, dominicans need prayer, for God is not mock, Dominicans evil is taking over dominica wake up wake up

So you think that the world is ending but somehow prayer is going to save us from this inevitable fate? smh I guess it should come as no surprise that the people who believe in this nonsense can’t muster a single coherent thought.

    • Face the Facts
      May 28, 2016

Do not forget the heart, mind and mouth. Today, the fingers through the keyboard. Sin also originates and generates from them. Some people hate others and insult them for commenting; those who do not support their favorite Party. It is evident on this Website.
Some judge others as if they are perfect. Those who left the Catholic Church hate it. So much for loving God and others. No one is perfect. All sin in words and deeds, past and present. No one is exonerated.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.” How many people ignore it? It is a mark of disobedient. Striving for perfection is pleasing to God.
God must be worshiped. People must pray, not only for themselves but for others. They must make penance and sacrifice as a means of atonement to appease God.

People will suffer as along as they do not obey God, His Ten Commandments. It will affect entire nations, not only in Dominica.
The Mother of God, the Ever Blessed Virgin Mary said: “Men must stop offending God. He is already so offended. Already the chalice is overflowing.”
How many heed Her messages which is from the Holy Spirit? Some scorn it and reject her.
Familiarize yourself with her messages she has been giving to visionaries for the world. They are to be spread.
Some look at the sins of others and not their sins which are also in their very household.
As I always state, much more could be stated.

  20. We need massive planting of bamboo and soil conserving trees
    May 28, 2016

As floods seem to ravage our island every year when shall we join hands and embark on a massive campaign to plant bamboo and other treed to conserve our soil? Our soil is being washed away every time these floods descend. If we don’t act promptly to pursue reforestation our island will become a barren uninhabitable rock. Let us move toward reforestation with all deliberate speed.

Does Dominica really have a regime in power? over 124million box in passport sales soon within the six months after Erika and nothing is done…

why take the funds to pay the NEP which isn’t a sustainable venture and you have excessive work to do in road, bridges and storm drains, why haven’t the rivers and ravines
not cleared as the passport sales have roped in Millionssssssss….of box for the island…

one thing is dislike about dcans is their droll and lack luster approach to issues of importance to the island…
thus making dominica the poorest and the slowest economy in the eastern caribbean.

dominica is known all over the world as the fools paradise…as fools are easily comforted and mislead at all counts….shame on dcans for stooping to the gravel…

Stop your nonsense. It doesn’t take a bridge to prevent your house from going down the river. The gov’t should have dredged that river and built you a proper wall months ago. No more bridges needed in Roseau. How about the other citizens in the rest of the country who are desperately in need of bridges and road access? Don’t you have any concern for them?

Look how educated and smart you are: Another thing is your filthy name in order for you to be sixty-nine means you have to be in a upside-down position. So, it is not what goes into the mouth of someone that defiles the man, it what comes out of his/her mouth.
