Forecasters have decreased the chance of a below normal hurricane season and say that the season is still expected to be the most active since 2012.
In its updated 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) calls for a higher likelihood of a near-normal or above-normal season and decreases the chance of a below-normal to only 15 percent, from the initial outlook issued in May.
Forecasters now expect a 70-percent chance of 12–17 named storms, of which 5–8 are expected to become hurricanes, including 2–4 major hurricanes. The initial outlook called for 10–16 named storms, 4–8 hurricanes, and 1–4 major hurricanes. The seasonal averages are 12 named storms, 6 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes.
Let us hope they divert their trail away from Dominica.
May I inform you that summer in Toronto has been the driest on record; very little rain. A man stated on the News, “It is a drought” which will affect the growth of fruits and vegetables. This means we will pay more for them.
Last week we had some extremely humid weather. I do not mind the heat but humidity could be a killer, so-to-speak. Outside was unbearable. It was also difficult for those who only have fans. When it is as humid as that, fans could be redundant. An air conditioner or dehumidifier is much better.
Someone told me her air conditioner conked out. I suppose the usage caused this in hot weather. This could have occurred to many others.
For this time of year, it is abnormally warm. I am enjoying it as others, knowing it will not last. However, I also think of earthquakes when it is as hot as that. God help us.
God help Dominicans that there will be no storms or hurricanes.
This predictions can change overnight, we are in the hurricane season and take nothing for granted, any good day is a bonus, watch and pray, it could come at a cock crow.
The weather could be unpredictable. As we know the trail could change in a wink of an eye.
This occurred to B/dos some years ago. If I recall, the hurricane was headed for D/ca. It changed its course. At another time it also occurred to D/ca.
Do you know the following, a short poem for the hurricane season? Learned it since in elementary school. Something everyone should be aware of.
June too soon
July stand by
August, look out you must
September remember
October all over.
Of course there have been hurricanes also in November. May Dominica be spared.
Ahayah blessed
Those storms on Dominicans’ time. LOL
