Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, has said that the government is going ‘full force’ to prepare Dominica for possible effects of Tropical Storm Isaac.
He spoke at a press conference on Tuesday as the island monitors the storm which is located east of the Windward Islands.
“Where the security of the state is concerned, the preparation of the state is concerned, the NEPO (National Emergency Planning Organisation), the government system, we are going full force, full throttle to ensure, as far as humanly possible, we prepare this country for this upcoming storm…” he stated.
The Prime Minister said Dominica cannot afford another storm from a financial, economic and an emotional/psychological standpoint.
“All of us know, every one of us knows, we cannot afford a storm, we cannot afford flooding, we cannot afford a tropical storm, far more for a hurricane,” he noted.
He called for prayer as the storm churns towards Dominica.
“I urge us to pray to our God and to continue praying but when we pray let us prepare ourselves because the two must come together in order for us to see the storm through,” Skerrit remarked.
I want to see Dominica and let see There if good for living and Business then I can do anything good RIZENEBIL Business and I want to perches Land or Residents pilot or flat so please check my gimail Anser me Haw can Visit your Contere Thanks to all of you thanks ? KHALID.ALI KONJI
What happened to the millions of dollars that was donated by the world community after Hurricane Maria? There is approximately 73,000 people on Dominica. Enough money was donated to build a new hurricane proof house for everyone living on the island, who got the money? take a guess. There needs to be an audit by a independent outside organization to find out who got those millions and if it was used by any politicians to enrich themselves. If guilty they should be prosecuted. Inquiring minds want to know.
Why people are so political. We did not learn from Maria. Leaders are to be respected. The leader calls on people to pray, all I see from negative people is politics. I am tied of my country people. Please stop the politics and pray for protection. When Isaac comes the whole country will be in serious trouble. Stop the politics and pray for protection. This is the land of my birth but is it foolishly political
Leaders are to be respected??? Respect has to be earned and for this reason I will never again respect our current leaders, namely Skerrit and his government ministers. They are corrupt and unadulterated liars that can’t be trusted.
Respect which leaders ?
Dominica do not have leaders who deserve respect- bunch of corrupt and dishonest individuals.
What pray? Seek the Lord at all times not only when hurricane is coming.
Isaac must come and clean the land-la band machasta?
Honestly speaking if Roosevelt Skerrit had called on the nation to condemn the bombing of the house of GON Emanuel, on the birthday of our Lord, the morning of December 25, 2010 I would heed his call for prayer today.
If after those very evil, wicked and ungodly gang that bombed the house of GON Emmanuel and ran away, the PM had sincerely called on the nation to pray for their capture so they could face justice, I would heed his call for prayer today.
If when the PM realized that the future of Ross University was in trouble and asked the nation to pray to their God for divine intervention, I would heed his call for prayer. But instead he lied and deceived us as usual.
At this time I give up because EVIL is a reproach to any nation. Here is 1 John 5:16-17 “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.” our sin is unto death
Oh, Mr Skerrit, please do grow up. We are not children in a school yard.
That hypocrite is just playing the religious game by asking for prayer. Why he didn’t ask for prayer when he knew the future of Ross University was in trouble and that would affect many of us? Is that his way of confirming that he kicked out Ross because their presence had him nervous?
You are so correct . An accomplished hypocrite, and a false God ,that’s what he is..
D man say pray to “our God”…hmmm. Mr.man there is one God Almighty
I am praying for the capture of all wanted fugitives whether they are friends of Monfared that need to be in power to cover their crime or otherwise. I pray for their capture
Dominica cannot afford a storm from a financial stand point? What happened to the $400 million you received for the last storm? Let me guess, you used it to rebuild Dominica? Or did you use it to line your pockets and your compadres pockets? The island needed the relief funds to rebuild and prepare for times like these but due to mismanagement, they have to depend on hopes and dreams. I believe in God and in miracles, however, God makes a way and sometimes we are too blind to see that he has already provided for us. I just urge the people to look at what is present before you and ask yourself, is this Dominica in a good place. Don’t be content with Mediocrity.
If and when the storm or Hurricane comes in and any looter or looters try entering the family business premises man bite dogs will shoot first and ask questions after, let that be a lesson to all my friend and I don’t mess around.
They doh stop making gun after they make yours Remember dat
“He called for prayer as the storm churns towards Dominica.”
“I urge us to pray to our God and to continue praying but when we pray let us prepare ourselves because the two must come together in order for us to see the storm through,” Skerrit remarked.
Since PM called for prayer and asked us to pray to our God, here is my prayer: please blow hurricane Skerrit out of Dominica and take him where he belongs, because this Hurricane Skerrit is more distructive to Dominica than any other storm. Please hear my prayer and answer speedily. Amen
You can remember where he sent Dominican’s when he was asked where does DLP get its campaigning money?
Go to hell
Go to hell
Go to hell..This is where he belongs
This is how devilish this leader is!
While we cannot afford it,it befalls us because the leader of the country thinks that he can juxtapose himself with God,so the one true God that most of us believe in,reduces to nothing everything that this falls God/leader builds…If you and your acolytes have not seen that, then God has blinded you all too .
Much more than that was said before Maria, and you hot air was a waste ….You are making mockery of leadership.A puppet would do better than you!!!!
Get out of my computer screen !!!Your buffoon and showman!
Get Out Man!
Shut the front door %? and continue ? drinking ? hater aid. Give me back my hot air word copy cat ?. Even when we are facing imminent danger you are still spewing garbage. Use your time wisely and become a contributing member of society.
false Godeverythingthat this false God …….
Should read: Population going” Full force /speed” from Skerrit, Isaac et AL
Gov’t going “full force” to prepare Dominica for Isaac says PM Skerrit
Where and when did that press conference take place?
A good question because to me that was an address, broadcast on Cairo radio and DBS only and therefore not a press conference. It could have been made from outside Dominica.
It seems to me Dominicans want the God to project them but they don’t want to live for him, remember after maria they still had carnival jumping in the streets I wonder which God they were praising. God is a just God
Tomorrow we in Jamaica are celebrating 30 since Gilbert tear through the island lots of damage and death, just hoping isaa keep away this time.
I say widespread flooding and landslides. All those channels and places like colihaut and Coulibistri watch it. Roseau river will overflow and roseau will flood. I am afraid the past dew uears fhe river channels have changed and more erosion and deposits in new places. Its probably time to think of raising. Walls of Roseau river.
where is the PM
“All of us know, every one of us knows, we cannot afford a storm, we cannot afford flooding, we cannot afford a tropical storm, far more for a hurricane,”
One thing he and me can agree on for now, when I leave DA them storms can come all they want but for now they better ease up I still around
The only thing some people have to protect them from the impending storm is their prayers. The poor among us are too often left exposed to fend for themselves in times of great adversity. We have to do much more as a people, as a government, to empower these people to lift themselves out of these precarious conditions. No one deserves to live in abject poverty from birth to the grave. A little incentive here and a little assistance there should create enough impetus to help them to help themselves to rise above the poverty line. May the good Lord watch over the entire country and protect it from all harm and danger.
Fart; talking fart when he knows that Isaac is no longer classified as a hurricane; but he is going to try and use his uneducated warped mind to try and use his pseudo psychology on his shallow minded supporters into thinking he is saying, and doing something smart!
I live in Los Angeles, know for a fact that Isaac has long been downgraded to a tropical storm; it is no longer a hurricane, but that idiot babbles making belief, how stupid is Roosevelt Skerrit?
Stupid as you it seems. The mere fact that your behaving like a 7 year old kid and playing the blame game speaks volume about you sir.
Yes, you the six idiots who gave me thumbs down, I do not have much to say to fools like you except to ask you; could you have ran out of Dominica as Skerrit did when he heard hurricane Isaac was heading to Dominica?
Note: Roosevelt and Melisa children are secured as they are American born citizens, his children are attending school in America, they have an even chance thought black! What have you got; thumbs down? Be it here in America, or if I return to Dominica, I would still be on a slanted playing field.
I assure you Roosevelt would be on the downward tilting side of the playing field; his body and soul is in politics, I do not have to dabble in politics to get money and survive, that is his only Estate. I can return to Dominica penniless, with my background as an Electronic/Electrical Engineer I can go from rags to riches; and by the way all of my grandchildren are American born!
Honey, sorry to offend you. You making Roosevelt laugh at you. Your money cannot come close to Roosevelt own. Do u even know how to begin to put money in the Swiss bank? I’m not for Skerrit eh, but you made me laugh. An electrical engineer can go broke. That’s just one source of income. His children are born in the US. Where are your children born? lol
@Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
So what his kids are American born citizens? They are not the only children in Dominica who was given such privileges so what makes them so special? They ain’t the only kids from our country that are attending school up there so what exactly is your point?
Now is not the time to be arguing about Roosevelt and his family. What you should be doing is ensuring that your family is safe and secure and not minding the Pm personal business which has nothing to do with you.
It’s time to put that politics thing aside and “mind your funky business” because your only making yourself look like a fool.
You are one SICK individual! Electrical engineer my foot. A Vieux Cour like you who would employ you. Best you stay in the ‘haven’ where you are residing you truly deserve to be there.
All of my children are born in Antigua nevertheless, they all came to America when they were little kids. They went to elementary, and secondary school, in Los
Angeles; and then attended College and University.
They are all naturalize citizens, of the United States, and all of their children; my grandchildren, and one grandchild are all born in America!
Now, my money is not stolen, it’s money I earned by my profession, and in recent years from my legitimate Real Estate business. I am not a thief, I do have to hide money is Switzerland. I save my money in any Bank in America, or Dominica if I wish and not worry about any law enforcement keeping their eye on me to grab me when the time comes.
A mam steals for a living cannot compare with a man who is learned! I am professionally an Electronic/Electrical Engineer, I can design things and sell which can change the life’s of people, and perhaps the world
Thieves can’t do that!
“Thick Shabin”
If you were not an idiot you would not ask that stupid question. The fact that Roosevelt is the prime minister of the country, and refuses to allow his children to be born in Dominica should set you your stupid mind thinking!
How many Dominicans are privilege to have their children born in America? Could it that Melisa believes that no one in Dominica is medically qualified to see her person from whence a child is born, or they have no confidence in the medical system?
If it is the latter Roosevelt is the one who should ensure that medical technology is up to twenty-first century standards. But since you present yourself as an idiot, I must tell you that Roosevelt looks down on Dominica, knowing when he is finished screwing it up, his children if they grow there by the time they are eighteen years old all they need is a their American birth certificate gt on a plain and head to America.
You have that Privilege?
Francisco
Well if you ask me you are in trouble all around because if Mr. Skerrit’s children born in America is a problem for you there is no escape because the other contender’s children are also born in America.
From my understanding, the PM’s wife lived in America for a long time and may even be an American citizen or at least a green card holder so she chose to have her children born there. On the other hand, the other contender and his wife lived in Dominica all their lives, perhaps they are green card holders too, I don’t know and that has never interested me before now that these personal accusations are being made.
This means that the latter family would have made a conscious decision to go to America to have their children. Who cares either way Francisco? How does that make or break Dominica?
