A tropical wave is affecting Dominica. Radar imagery indicated that moderate to heavy shower and thunderstorm activity have been affecting mainly the southern portion of Dominica thus far. The activity could spread to the remainder of the island throughout the day. Rainfall projections is up to 4 inches with higher amounts expected in elevated areas. Flash Flooding is therefore expected.
A Flood Warning is now in effect for Dominica from 930am to 6pm today Thursday 19th August, 2021. This maybe extended, downgraded to a flood watch or discontinued if conditions warrant.
A Flood Warning is issued when flooding is already occurring or expected to occur in a short time. People in areas prone to landslides and falling rocks should also be on alert and should exercise caution.
